Are we sure that NIL is the problem we think it is....I mean who is paying money for Trey Palmer, for instance?

This is a recipe to get destroyed year in and year out.

The universities can put a limit on it through trademarks. If a kid wants to do NIL for say, Cane's , the university can say to the kid, sure do your endorsement deal, but if you wear an LSU jersey, you have to pay us for it if you want to keep playing for us. No pay.....no play....and the universities can absolutely do this.

How to beat NIL
Great point that the NIL contracts may become the anchors that keep kids from transferring if they have tenure escalators. However, boy is it going to be muddy when sponsors start point-blank pressuring (bribing?) coaches to get their guy on the field more often. I can imagine the CEO of Tabasco calling CBK and TELLING him to not take Walker Howard out in the 2nd half of blowouts or else Tabasco will “sponsor” Howard’s transfer to another school. This likely is going to be the wild west

Now that is an interesting take. There are layers and layers of potential complexity.

ESD, the portal and NIL all need to be changed to make things better for all involved most of all the student athlete. It’s coming, this model can not sustain without some forms of regulation. I hate A&M, TX etc., but get out there and pay and load your roster before tighter or more stringent guidelines are put in place. I think LSU is trending that way but in no means winning the foot race.

I want to be the recruit on the other end of a phone call with this logic. “Yea so, we think you should forget about those millions to come here because we, like, win a lot.”

You can’t win everything until you’re already winning everything. Ask Bama.

So many anti-Americans on here I see.

A kid old enough to own a gun and go to war but not old enough to live the American dream.

I could have swore y’all was republicans and capitalist. Guess all that was a lie lol.

But anyways LSU will adapt and thrive with NIL

the OP is very naive.

Money talks, and that’s what will drive recruiting and transfers from this point forward. Not for all players, of course, but for many.

And the college game will be far worse for it.

Have a NIL deal, great but you aren't eligible for a scholarship. Pay your own way as a walk on. IRS needs in on NIL deals.

We just need to level the money playing field and the. Having great coaches and a winning program matters again.

Have a program with three football nattys in the BCS era
Hire a hotshot AD
Watch hotshot AD hire top caliber coaches in every sport
Recruit high character athletes wanting a degree
Make being at LSU an honor because we win everything
Those universities who model a winning tradition will thrive
Time will tell but, in my opinion, Woodward is adapting quickly thus far
The question that remains is how we will do with recruiting the right athletes

Yeah this won't work, but all of that will play a part. I don't think you will be able to win shite with your formula. At the same time you ain't going to win shite either going the A&M route and going out and hiring a bunch of mercenaries either. There needs to be a good mix, kind of like Alabama has been doing for years. You gonna get them kids that are all ( insert school ) but you also are going to need them hired guns that are difference makers on the field. In any Army you have to have the foot soldiers who do the grunt work but you aint going to win with out the superstar top notch snipers.

With teams like A&M dishing amount more money than everyone it’s going to be like bear Bryant where top notch players are going to be 2nd and 3rd string, but now they have the transfer portal and at the end of the day they need to play to make it to the league. I could imagine some boosters will be pissed when they invest so much in a player that will transfer ultimately but it’s bound to happen at the rate A&M is going

Aggys are the beta project on the the NIL going in a total different direction than what’s it intended for. I can see this happening.. Too many me’s in the locker room
