I was right. without Google. Knew it was the early 70s

Well, I played one game in it and that was 1973, so I think it was '70 or '71. I saw Maravich play in the Cow Palance in '68.

January 1972. The Tigers lost their first game played there, vs. Vandy. They proceeded to lose the next two games there, vs. Bama and then Auburn. LSU's first victory in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center was a Saturday night spectacular against Georgia, 69-68, in late January, 1972. LSU came back from double digits with about 5 minutes left. Shades of Apple Sanders, Fig Newton, Tommy Hess and Collis Temple Jr.

yes first basketball season in the PMAC was 71-72. It was following that season that Press Maravich was fired, and Dale Brown was hired.

Climbed all over the interior and exterior scaffold during construction when I was 10. Old man used to take me out there on Sunday's.
