Beckwith
White
Pocic

Of all of them, White is the only one I think SHOULD make the jump. Beckwith and Pocic could do so much better...

The contenders are Beckwith, White, and Neal on D, and Dural, Hawkins, Pocic and Gordon on offense. (ETA- I forgot LaCouture, but I doubt he goes, anyway).

Beckwith and White are toss ups. The way rookie contracts are, it may not matter to them where they are drafted. I feel certain Beckwith would be higher than White. Tre's a solid player, but I don't think he is even close to the class of Peterson, Simon, or HB.

Neal would be risking a lot leaving. He still has work to do. I'm not sure his athleticism will be enough to make up ground in the combines. He should come back.

On offense, I don't see how Dual can go. He didn't have a great year, and his rehab will take time. He will greatly improve his stock by coming back and having a better senior year with fewer drops.

Gordon is in the same boat if he can get a 6th year.

Hawkins and Pocic could go, but we've had a pretty solid track record of O Line guys staying the last three years. Another year would allow Hawkins to improve as a Tackle, because he was pretty average at times, especially in pass protection. Pocic needs to either move back to guard or tackle as well. I have a feeling at least one stays.

Debo and Mills on D. Louis wasn't really key this year, but he's gone too. Alexander and possibly Gordon on the O.

There's the potential for LSU to have a very experienced squad coming back next year.

Ranking the juniors in order of importance (in my opinion):

1. Beckwith- LB is the one spot we will really lack experience next year. Him leading those young guys would be huge. Probably won't happen, though.

2. Pocic- The line will have a lot of underclassmen with experience next year, but there is a lot of talent here. If someone can step up and take the Center spot and Pocic can move to Tackle, it would be a huge boost for this line.

3. White- He's our best man cover guy, although Tolliver may push him for that title if he comes back next year. He was solid against everyone he faced this year, outside of D Wilson, Treadwell, and Bama's 2 great young WRs.

4. Gordon- This may seem too high, but we really missed him this year. In this offense (which I don't expect to drastically change), he is a key guy. We also aren't overly deep at tackle, and he could easily slide over and man a spot, if necessary.

5. Neal- I don't think he will go, but it would be a blow if he does. He improved leaps and bounds, and with Key starting to emerge and with some young talent on the way, he could have a big year next year.

6. LaCouture- I forgot to put him on my earlier list, probably because he has no business going pro early. This year showed that he is a hard working, high effort guy. However, he is NOT a difference maker. He is, however, a solid rotation guy. His loss wouldn't be as severe as Neal's, but with him and the incoming guys, we could finally go 5-6 deep at DT without losing too much. You know O likes that.

7. Hawkins- He is at the bottom of the list because he is the most disappointing player on it. He just isn't that great a college tackle, and would get murdered at that spot in the NFL. If Pocic stays, I don't think we would miss Hawkins that much if he goes. If he stays, I hope he can improve his damn footwork and speed off the snap, and stop freakin false starting.

I agree with the first part.

But White would go ahead of Beckwith in the draft. At worst, White goes early 2nd round and most likely goes in the 1st. And he's wayyyy better than Simon. Not sure why you have him in that group. And he's a completely different type of player than Peterson and TM were. Those guys were playmakers. And PP is 1 of the biggest freaks in the NFL considering his size and athleticism for his position. Due to that, he doesn't really have a ceiling, and it's rare someone has that much potential. And TM is as instinctive and unique as a player that has ever come along.

Where White differs is that he's a pure man to man sticky cover CB. Arguably the best in the nation at it, along with Hargreaves. He's an eraser out there and is always in great position on his man. And he's extremely polished with a high football IQ. His game translates to NFL very well. He rarely is in bad position, gets burned, mental mistake, etc. he's always there. The WR will occasionally go up and make a play, but thats football. You're gonna get beat. And it takes a very good pass to beat him as well. But he's typically always in good position, forcing QBs to make throws in a very tight window and usually wins that battle.

Go look at his roto page, scouts really like him. Not saying he's gonna be a CB1 that shadows the Julio Jones of the world, but he's a damn good cover CB. Last year the completion percentage against White was a crazy low 23.4%. That's ridiculous. And hes not the most physical CB, but is a sound tackler in the open field. And despite what people think on here, he's averaged 10.9 and 12.2 yards per punt return these past 2 years with only 1 fumble. He's a pretty good punt returner and can help a team in that area as well.

Scouts have different opinions on Beckwith. They all agree that he can be a 2 down MLB in the NFL and is a powerful and strong player. But some question if he can be a 3 down Lb in the NFL and play in obvious passing situations, which the game is becoming. They aren't sure if he can play sideline to sideline either and some say he takes a while to read and dissect plays when he should react and attack.

And besides that, not too many MLBs go in the 1st round. In some drafts, the first MLB taken goes in the 2nd. And the ones that do go in the 1st round are the elite MLB prospects like Luke Keuchly, CJ Mosley, Hightower, etc. I still think Beckwith would at worst go in the last 2nd. But he won't be a 1st rounder this year and there are a handful of ILBers that would go ahead of him. I think he would benefit a lot by returning.
