It’s all good. I would have loved for Bingham to go off today and make me eat crow. In the end the CF position is fricked right now, but I just don’t see a better option than Kling currently. It might surprise you but earlier in the season I was in favor of actually benching him for Bingham, but Bingham just hasn’t been enough of an upgrade and seems to be trending down. Makes more sense in my opinion to just accept that Kling is the best we have and hope that these at bats will benefit him in the long run.

He is 100% frustrating to watch at the plate and as of right now seems like he isn’t going to figure it out this season. Just get him some at bats, hope he has a good summer, and can improve for next year.

I wasn't ever trying to say that Bingham is some great player, or that he should be leading off. I just responded to you say in SEC play they are the same offensively. While they get on base at the same rate, Bingham gets more hits, has more power, and strikes out less. I would rather not have to watch either of them.

I get what you are saying and it’s fair. When I was saying they are basically the same offensively I wasn’t necessarily taking the entire sec season into account bc I agree with LE that over the last month Kling has been trending up and Bingham has been trending down. It was kind of refreshing to see Kling have a decent outing against Mizzou but I should have known it wouldn’t last.

With all that said I agree. I wish we didn’t have to watch either and it’s like picking the lesser of two evils. If we have to pick an evil then give me the guy who most likely will have to play for us next year and let him take his licks now.

One thing I have noticed about all the good teams this year. They are being carried by juniors who are having breakout seasons. There is something to experience in the sec and bc Kling sucked so much last year, he wasn’t able to gain it. Would love to process him and get a stud CF in the portal or have the next Larson come in as a freshman but if we gotta ride with him next year then let him figure it all out now and hit the ground running next year. Lord help us.

That was a very thought out and reasonable argument Fredbull kudos. Where I would differ with you is Kling had significant at bats last year not a starter but played. This year he has been the main centerfielder and the patern of hitting in non SEC games and not being able to hit SEC pitching has continued and actually he has regressed. My argument would be start Brown...I know I catch grief about his .100 SEC batting average. But I think any reasonable person other than Lester would realize that 10 at bats for a freshman does not give a decent sample size especially compared with the at bats Kling received last year and the 45 at bats he has had in SEC play this season. After that many at bats he is what he is.
As far as I know Brown is the only other choice in centerfield besides Bingham and Bing is a senior so not going to help next season. Also Brown is fast and has a cannon for an arm so why wouldn't you give him a couple of series in a lost season to see if he can hit. If you are aware of another option on team now that would be back next year I am open to that as well but to keep putting Kling out there and watching him fail over and over makes no sense to me.

Again you have made a reasonable thought out argument I just feel there is a better option.

It seems the only toolsy guy left is Mitchell who I don’t believe even has an at bat on the season. I was under the impression he was getting a redshirt. Ruddell has gotten some at bats in blowouts and hasn’t done anything.

I don’t know what range Frey would have in CF or if he can even throw a ball. I might could get behind a Larson, Frey, Pearson lineup, but Frey wasn’t exactly lighting it on fire at the plate either.

We are stuck between a rock and a hard place right now bc like Boosie said we are still playing for the playoffs, but we also need to get guys experience who we think might be big contributors next season. If Jay truly thinks that Kling will be the guy next year then it makes sense to die on that hill this year. Tools and potential wise, we have Kling and then a gap to everyone else. The trick is if we are patient enough and believe that the light will eventually come on for Kling. I dunno.

With that said what would really suck is if somehow Kling still gets drafted high bc of potential and we basically just wasted this season on his bullshite and don’t develop anyone else.

I trust that Jay will get it right in the end.

i would be very surprised if he was drafted but it could happen. Am curious about Mitchell as well have heard he has tons of talent but is very raw.
