I think it is unethical and wildly dangerous to sell water at such a high price.

Logistically speaking, this was the worst LSU game I have ever attended in 30years... spent 2 hours in traffic on River Road, took about 45 minutes to get in the gate, the concession stand lines were ridiculous, not enough vendors walking around (they would just get stopped soon as they got to the exit of the portal, so there was a default line there).. I got hustled by a lady with the band (or maybe just a random lady) guarding the water bottles for the band in the west/north portal.. asked her if they were for sale, she said they were for the band but she could sell them for 5$/each.. 2 small waters 10$, but it beat missing 30 min of the game in the other lins

My beef is with all the nicely shaded unoccupied seats on the West sideline that I get to stare at through my dripping, salty, sunburnt eyes because granny and/or the fat cats that have had those tickets since William T. Sherman was the school president don't ever show up. Money isn't an issue-I doubt the geezers even pay as much as my TAF ransom that I pay for the privilege of contracting melanoma at an early age. Put those tickets that are never used back into play!

Guy sitting next to me paid a concession stand attendant $20 to put some tap water in a cup with some ice.

Anyone who thinks the gameday experience hasn't been driven into the ground is ignorant in my opinion. How can you say that when a huge SEC game has about 15k NO SHOWS. Sorry but Tiger Stadium is way behind the times on what it takes to provide an enjoyable gameday experience.

Guys if you are worried about what is going on at other stadiums, then stay the hell home and give you tickets to someone who actually cares.

That could be part of the problem......people want to play on their phones the whole damn game and not watch the game you paid 70 freaking dollars to come see.

Why can't I care whats going on in other stadiums during the 10 minute tv timeouts?
I care enough to have 8 season tickets, go to 2-3 away games a year. So not sure where you are going with that.

Ok.....so I'm paying $70 to watch the game in the stadium, why is it your business if I want to keep up with the other games going on?

Sorry but you're wrong. College football has become huge now and it's more than what's going on with your team. LSU is the paramount, but what's going on around the country directly effects LSU as well. There are games going on that impact the season.

When I'm watching the LSU game, during commercials at home or at the stadium, I'm checking scores, reading whats going on. At home I'm switching channels, checking out a few plays of other games.

When the product on TV is better than the stadium, it's pretty much a bonus that you get to watch the other big games while you watch your fav team.

I won't add to the typical complaints about the scoreboard, the poor video production, poor traffic, concesions, etc (which I agree with), but I'll say this:

One of the things that irks me to no end is when they pipe in Seven Nation Army. People start doing the ooh oh oh oh oh ohhhhh ohhh melody, but the audio track skips about 30 seconds in and now the chanting and music aren't synced. It's a small thing, but it's indicative of the lack of attention the production people have. It happens every time.

And hell, if there's anything close to ruining my gameday experience, it's all the elderly folks in section 102. The ones right by us have the nerve to pat people on the back and gesture for them to sit down, and this is during 3rd downs and such. Ridiculous. I love seeing elderly fans supporting the Tigers, but you don't own the damn place.

Seems like a lot of people are taking your advice. 15K no shows for the Florida game.

Crappy WiFi service. Jesus what the hell do you need WiFi for?

I'd be surprised if good, highly available wifi would be possible anytime in the near future. It would just be too much.

Do any huge stadium-like venues provide that? It's not like a coffee shop, where 10 or 15 people are using wifi inside and a couple more trying to use it sneakily from the parking lot.

Just think of the logistics to provide wifi capacity to 90k+ people. Even if only 10% of the fans tried to use wifi that's almost 10k users slamming routers and/or access points. Then those people are trying to stream video, etc. The bandwidth requirement to keep that many connections going is absurd.

To top that off, you know that many people would try to take advantage of being in a free wifi hotspot and would start trying to download their netflix shows or what have you, if not to save their data, then to save time later. Even if only 500 people out of 90,000 are abusive of the wifi service and try to download a movie... . let's say 4GB of HD movie... 500 people x 4GB = 2000GB (or 2 terabytes). That would, of course, be on top of all the live download streams of other games and highlights, which given the 9-10k other users would probably be at least as much if not several times as much depending on compression/quality. And if pretty much "everyone" is so reliant on their connection these days, maybe 10k users out of 90k is conservative... maybe it would be more like half the stadium.

I'm just making up numbers here and might be way off one way or the other, but I'd think the wifi system would have to have an overall capacity to download probably 10 terabytes of data in an approx 3-4 hour span, and handle spikes in data requests that are almost unimaginable. It is like asking LSU to sponsor free wifi for somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of Baton Rouge.

Maybe I'm wrong and other stadiums do something like this on a large scale. But I would be surprised. It would take an enormous investment to do it well, and all for a system that would only be heavily used for lets say 8 home games on avg x 4 hours = 32 hours for the entire year (365 days x 24hrs = 8760 hours).

I wouldn't expect this to happen anytime in the near future. And if it did, I think it would be a waste of money. The same money might be better used to pave an extra access road or something so people can rush back home to their own precious wifi service.

about the poor gameday experience inside the stadium

I'm FAR more pissed about the experience OUTSIDE the stadium. Traffic getting onto campus was absurd, and the inept police are finding new ways to be less constructive than ever. People bitching about people in the stands must be purposely avoiding the obvious reasons - IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO THE STADIUM.

Jerry World and the new SF ball park come to mind. Several of the other stadiums have made huge upgrades in this regard.

This isn't a deal breaker for me personally....but they could help this out by a bit by giving more updates of the other games going on like I've noted.

dangerous to run out of water as happened Saturday at every concession stand in the South end (which was amazing actually

Not only did they run out of water, I I waited until about 215 to go in gate 12 ( was trying to sell a ticket) my wife texted and said to pick up water on the way to the seat because it was hot, the water they ha at that point was not cold yet. I know, big deal, get over it etc. but cold water would have been handy.

And that's exactly what I'm going to do. I don't run out of water or ice. I can instantly know the scores of other games around the country. I have fully functioning wifi. I don't have to wait in line for the restroom. I don't have to wait in line for food (nor do I have to pay triple what it should cost me). I can watch other games, grab food, piss, etc.. during commercials and not have it take 20 mins.

How you run out of anything by halftime in concessions is beyond me. Have scores constantly shown/updated for the fans to see. Have better quality TV's in the concession area since I'm going to be waiting there for 30 mins for an overpriced hot dog that I have to wash down with an iceless drink.

And if you're going to force me to sit in the blazing sun while you have a TV timeout every time someone blinks, then having wifi so I can check my phone for updates, scores, texts, etc... would be freaking nice.

Not to mention, have some sort of queue for the gates that get over crowded. Gates 1,2 & 3 Saturday had maybe 6-7 feet of railings to form a "line". all it was, was hundreds of thousands of people in one big wad of sweaty angry fans trying to funnel into the gates in an unorganized fashion. Get your shite together and get a gameplan going. This isn't Tiger Stadium's first rodeo. (For the record, I was at that gate an hour before gametime and it took forever to get in)

If you're going to increase cost, then you have to increase benefit. Especially if you're clearly seeing a drop off in attendance. Upgrade your shite and give people a reason to go to the games and not stay home. Fans are your customers and if they have issues with your product you fix it.

The game day experience within the stadium has to be something that can't be duplicated elsewhere, e.g. the Saint's playing at the Louisiana Superdome...an adult crowd drinking adult beverages with unlimited food and first class amenities...totally impressed by what's happening in New Orleans these days...of course having Drew Brees and Sean Payton makes a big difference as well.

This. I left my seat when the band started on the field to use the bathroom and get a coke. I think I missed the 1st 2 possessions of the third quarter. There was no tv near my concession stand and even if it had been, it would have been crappy. I spent $25 dollars on just drinks and they were out of large water and coke at halftime.

thats not what i said. he said "if you're going to force me...". i was just pointing out that nobody is forcing him to do shite.

i understand legit complaints.....traffic before games, clusterfrick at the gates, running out of concessions. bitching about wifi in a 90,000 capacity stadium is fricking stupid
