Has had with Slaughter, or any player, about sliding to the bag at 2nd. I get the awful feeling that it was not many.

I know that does not save us, but just a situation where our players did not seem as prepared as they should have been in that situation. That's coaching.

They do that 'Baseball 101' thing every few weeks or so where they go over the rules. Slaughter just lost his head in the moment.

Probably not many, because that conversation should have been had in little league.

I'd like to lay that at Paul's feet.

But frick. Really. That's a play any 12 year old I ever coached would know.

The runner is GOING TO SCORE.

You basically go OUT OF YOUR WAY to NOT frick it up.

Yes. Yes.

Yes.

Yes yes yes.

We found another way to blame something on the coach.

And yet, or guy didn't. And was his little league coach the last guy to tell him.

It's not like the rule changed from little league to high school to college. That literally has been the rule since the guy started playing baseball. They only time it changes is when you go pro. There is a ton to blame CPM on but this is not one of them.

Coaching was poor based on a number of managerial moves, but also because our guys did not execute bunting the baseball or execute effectively on the base paths.

The responsibility of the coach is to have the most prepared team on the field. Prepared and trained for every situation. That was not the case.

I hope not. I'd like to believe the kid just made a bone headed play, but it's the responsibility of the 1st base coach to clear up this cluster before it happens. Make sure the runner understands everything about the situation and can effectively react to those events.

How many umps actually call that. Especially at that point in the game.

Florida state and OSU both slid into our second baseman and there was no call.

Right call just a bad break for us.

Yeah jeez man we were the most unprepared team ever to make it to the national championship series. We were just unprepared and made it that far. Crazy huh.

Every trained ump calls that. Should be called at every level of baseball. It is the rule.

We were ill prepared to execute in the critical offensive situations today. Nobody was saying it as drastic as that, but when your players do things on the field that you do not want of them, that falls on coaching and preparation.

You should check out the one called in the TCU regional a few years ago. I think they were playing Sam Houston. At least this call was right. That call cost Sam Houston the game and it wasn't even correct, it was called just because it looked bad.

If you're referring to the slide at second being the coaches fault.......
