What the frick is going on with all this bad angles crap?
It happens.
The angles imprinted in HS ball no longer intersect paths of the ball carriers in CFB that are faster than most frosh have seen.

They will get it fixed with personnel changes, a lil coaching, tackleing, better angles and such. Not too worried, may give up points but won't be ridiculous points like y'all are saying!! Nah they will fix this! We will see better D in the game then I think we Shut Auburn down once the real SEC game shows up! Gotta remember we should be scoring points and some of those teams will give!!! Just have to play mistake free and get personnel correct, then it's all good!

To me they seem either slow or less aggressive.

We've probably gotten spoiled by the D's of the past few years.

It's a little of both but I think we are about to see it start getting fixed. It's going to make the Kent St game a lot more interesting than it otherwise would have been just to see how all this starts getting handled. I wouldn't expect wholesale changes all at once though. Some of these guys haven't been on campus more than a few weeks. Going to be a work in progress with these young guys as the season progresses. Hopefully it's all worked out before we get to deep into the season.

This defense kinda reminds me of the 2010 defense. Young but a lot of potential. I remember getting gashed by Newton. I think that's sadly going to happen this year with Mandel. We simply have too many young players who do not understand the concept of containment and pursuing too hard.

d or 3rd and 1 or 2 against TCU. The entire LSU defense (line of scrimmage) was literally pushed back about 3 yards on a play up the middle. Zero penetration. Not used to seeing that from a Chavis defense, so im a little concerned, but im not about to sound the alarms unless we start giving up 24+ ppg. thought: SEC OL are prolly bigger/bet
. That is the reason Im concerned and we should all be concerned. There is no doubt the offenses we face in the SEC will be MUCH better than what they've faced and we will give up many points. Hopefully the offense will be able to make up for the defensive weaknesses that we obviously have.

Just remember what happened with our run support when Minter went out at Florida. Couldn't stop the run. We're seeing a bit of this.

Not so good. The other teams run the edge & right up the middle pretty easy. I am not worried because the Chief will get it sorted out before we get to the meat of the schedule. Offense looks great.

TCU averaged 4.4 yards per play. How is that considered?

i know what everyone is saying. Chavis' defenses at LSU usually earn an "A" type grade and so far this defense feels like a "B". They're not bad but maybe missing something.

the real thing is outside containment which was mentioned, missed tackles, and bad angles. these are all fixable one way or another.

miles said himself they work at it aggressively and it will be improved or playing time will be decreased.

if the offense can keep it up and stay on field more, the D this year may benefit from seeing fewer snaps which can make any D look better.

edit: also some bad coverage by LB's and secondary i forgot to mention. once again, looks like the freshman may make an impact and eugene may play instead of martin.

Heat is on and have a feeling that one or two Kent players might get hurt this weekend.

Problem is, that's against much lower caliber offensive talent than we will be facing down the stretch.

That said, utmost faith in Chavis and the players to kick it up to the next level, especially as the younger guys get their sea legs.

Yard and a half is a pretty big gap in ypp.
Like 50th to 100th most years.

Not as big as the talent gap between LSU and SELA
