Re: the 2011 game in t-town, everyone seems to forget that we outrushed bama in that game.

Also, if Shep doesn't fall down for no good reason near the goal line after catching that pass, there is no OT, there is no rematch. I guess the momentum of the ball knocked him down.

As long as Mccarron is qb. We'll be in the game.

We said the same thing in the 2011 game in New Orleans. Wasn't he the MVP of that game? Anyway, you can say he had a better line back then, but we had a better defense and it didn't do us much good. And now, McCarron's a senior with 2 NC's under his belt–don't tell me a guy like that is going to fall apart in a big game on his home field that will determine whether or not he gets to go for a 3rd NC.

Alabama will be without a doubt the best team LSU will play this year. However, IMHO, Bama is 75-80% of the team that they have been the last 2-3 years.

Looking at stats to determine the outcome of an upcoming game is about as useless as tits on a nun. What will determine the winner is mindset and concentration. I know Les wouldn't like me saying this but we have to adopt the "hammer & nail" philsophy, with LSU being the fricking "Hammer".

They're good pass protectors, but there have been several games when they weren't able to run effectively.

Alabama's running issues were mostly prevalent in the first 3 games when Ryan Kelly was the starting Center. He got hurt and Chad Lindsay replaced him at the end of the first half of the Ole Miss game.

Since Lindsay has taken over at Center Alabama has run the ball significantly better. Kelly came back to practice yesterday and was the backup at RG. It appears that Lindsay's performances have won him the starting job. The offensive line is playing lights out with him in there.

Good enough to be #1 in all the polls. Two time defending champion with (in my thoughts) an All American Quarterback. I believe they are very good

I don't think they are as good as the UGA team that beat us (before the injuries).

bama is 7th in the sec in passing, 10th in the sec in rushing, and their defense is without a doubt not as good. They are obviously not as good as a team as they have been in recent years. They know how to win, but that sometimes doesn't matter when you're playing teams like LSU or whoever they will face in the postseason

They are more dynamic on offense with guys like cooper, drake, yeldon etc but I don't believe they are as strong defensively as they have been the past few years

See, Im just the opposite of this. I have watched a couple minutes of their games- and I see their OL getting man-handled upfront. They certainly don't have the rushing O of years past. McCrybaby is making a few clutch passes to keep them on the field. I don't think they have played a defense with a pulse yet though.

Ok, one. But didn't their offense struggle with VT? Something like 200 yards of total offense? That kinda plays in to my opinion that they have struggled on offense. They beat VT 35-10 and only managed 200 yards of offense. I believe against VT they had one or two defensive touch downs and one special teams touchdown. So take away those 21 points, and you've got a 14-10 game against VT. Now does that square up with the bama teams we are use to seeing? I think the answer is no. And its because since the VT game- we have not seen bama play a defense with a pulse. The only reason aTm was even in the game with bama, is because their offense was prepared for a shoot out.

Yep, they held mighty Marshall to only 3 TDs.

think about 2011. we had a world beater as a team and lost the game...l
Yes, LSU was a world-beater that season. But sorry, the strong, dominant LSU that won 12 games that season was a no-show on 1/9. The team that took the field as LSU wasn't the same team we saw beating the world. And blame coaching. Blame the players. Blame the game plan. Blame a lack of substitution in key positions. Whatever.

It just wasn't The LSU we'd seen all season long. And I don't think this year's Alabama is as strong a team as they were in 2011-12. But... they are improving. So...

I think what this has to do with this year's LSU and this year's Alabama really boils down to the question of which LSU do this year's Tigers want to be? Dominating offense, improving strong-enough defense? Or Bama doormat, again? This year's Tide can be beaten.

I don't even want to talk about those figs until they get their gump cousins out of the scheduling department of the SEC. I know the subject has been beat to :beatdeadhorse: but until they play an SEC east schedule that matters frick those guys. As far as I am concerned they have been scared to play any team with any strength except the ones they have to play in the SEC west. I don't care how good they think they are, let them have to play UF and UGA in the same year or UF and USC in the same year not including the SEC Championship game then they can claim to be a national contender until then they are no different than ND, the SEC schedules their schedule so that they have the easiest road in the SEC to the Championship. Those bunch of skin flute playing gump figs!!!
