How dumb is this hat?

Why would I want to be tiger bait? Do they just not know what the saying means?
Also...how dumb of a saying is "tiger bait" anyway. Bait is used to trap/kill animals. Why would we want to admit that our opponent is going to be used in a successful attempt to kill us?
tl;dr its tuesday and im bored and this hat is dumb

That is a dumb hat. A visiting fan of another school might wear it to Tiger Stadium if they want to be kinda funny I guess.

To me, "tiger bait" implies there is a third party. We're the tiger, and that week's opponent is the bait (who is eaten up first, so they lose-lose). But somewhere is the third party, who was doing the baiting of the tiger with that opponent. So the ultimate winner is some unknown entity?

While it's true that bait is typically part of a trap, it's equally true that bait always gets killed by whatever is being lured. So basically, the opponent is what draws the tiger into the stadium so that we, the crowd (the trappers, in essence), can revel in witnessing the beauty of its kill.
