I really have been pondering about this for a while now.

It makes absolutely zero sense.

First, O makes way too much, if he is just a figure head then why does he need to make millions in the first place. he literally does Nothing

For a coach who has not been considered and rejected by every small program, its absolutely insane that we have such an extreme buyout. The Shrimp boat captain is not even wanted by community colleges yet we decide to just throw our bank account away. Completely irresponsible.

I feel like something very shady is happening behind the scenes. There has to be, there is no way this can be approved by all these people.

Like a poster said earlier, there needs to be an investigation into this.

That buyout was Alleva protecting himself. I'm absolutely convinced of it.

You have either a completely areagant incompetent AD who decides to handcuff himself to a fricking terrible hire.

Salaries in the real world are based on demand. O isn't in demand, so it's absolutely ridiculous that he gets 3 mil a year, not even talking about getting a buyout of 4 times his salary

I can’t figure it out either. Why expose yourself to that kind of liability when making such a risky hire?

It makes zero sense.

Took the words out of my mouth. Alleva and King are inept.

And we were all lied to about it. I was under the impression that there was basically no buy out and that this little experiment was no risk. Now it's tearing down the entire program.

Definitely a theory I think can be it.

Its such an insane contract that he thinks it will force LSU to tolerate O for years, it just buys him more time. Except this all can turn south and end badly very quickly. LSU will start losing a ridiculous amount of money

The very people that nickel and dime the fans, and lie about the overall financial situation of the Ath. Dept. throw department money around with reckless abandon.

Desperate plus incompetent is a hell of a mixture.

He took the contact he had for Herman, adjusted the salary downward, and gave it to O to sign.

Question everyone

Wasn't this hire suppose to be experimental, meaning if it goes south quickly, we could pull the plug if it didn't work and just move on?

I thought that was one of the purposes of trying this out

Its very clear, that hiring "good" coordinators system with a non existent head coach doesn't work

That was my understanding last year. The buy out was kept under wraps until people started calling for his head. Now all the sudden there's a buy out. fricking bull shite.

Also, doesn't the contract have to be approved by supervisors before it can happen?

Its not our damn AD but its everyone going to the top

The best answer available is simply Alleva.

It's called zero ability to negotiate with the big dogs of the world. King and Alleva are merely kids in a big money market they have no business dealing with. LSU has committed to staying atop the college football world with the stadium expansion and other projects, yet take the cheap way out as it relates to coaching. Boggles my mind.

how much is Alleva's buyout?

I don't know how we can fix this until Alexander is shown the door. This all starts at the top
