No, but there isn't a poster on this board that would resign with that money on the table. It's a moot point.

The OP is obviously engaging in hyperbole but his point is still valid.

If Less Smiles is such a "stand up guy" then why doesnt he do whats best for the team and its fanbase and retire with his reputation still intact? He really is unraveling his "good guy" reputation by dragging this out.

I would if I had made those statements and had made that much money coaching LSU football.

Me too. I mean, really people. The guy has made over $40 million coaching a kids game for half the year. Why would he want to destroy this supposed great reputation hes worked so hard to build over what amounts to a 15% severance pay?

It amounts to 2.5-3x his annual earnings, and it is still $11-13MM, an amount that you wouldn't turn down.

No. Actually I would. Its scary that so many people here cant wrap their brains around this. I guess thats why Louisiana is still a caste system. How does one even spend that much money? My family takes in between $50-80k as a household and I can barely find a way to spend all our money. Im happy and have everything I need.

If Ive made millions over the course of my career a few million more isnt going to make or break me. My reputation would be much more important to me. He still has to go about his private life. Go to the grocery store and shite. He still has to face the public and hear his name in the press from time to time.

Anybody who has retired in shame will tell you that they would gladly trade much of their wealth to have their reputation back and be able to walk around with their head up and have people speak fondly of them. You cant take your wealth with you beyond your grave. When youre an old, frail man all you have left is a sense of self shaped by the way those around you feel about your time here on this earth. Those miserable old cooks you see mumbling incoherently to themselves are the ones that have lived a shitty life, stepping on people on their way to the top. The good ones still can laugh and love in old age.

Miles thinks he is doing his best for the job he was contracted to do. He isn't being asked to resign in some sort of scandal. If LSU wants to go in a different direction, that's their right, but Miles wanting to stay on as the coach is 100% understandable.

My god this board has become unhinged.

Are you seriously blasting miles for not giving up on the team and giving up his salary?
We are inventing subjects to shite on miles.

's largely funded by private dollars and delivered more wins, multiple division and conference championships, and a national championship. The only reason 9-3 is justification to fire a coach at LSU is because of the standard that Miles set for the better part of his tenure here.

Why on earth is it so black and white with you folks? Just because I don't classify his tenure as "milking" the state doesn't mean he needs to stay on as HC.

They cant help it. Ive repeatedly said i want a change at head coach but because i wont shite on our last 11 years, im still a miles supporter.
Its one thing to want a change and another to shite on the best tenure in lsu.

You can not be so fooking stupid to believe that college football coaches, at any colleges only work 6 months a year.

I'm sorry. You obviously are. Apologize to your mom. She had such hopes for you.

Yeah this has gotten insane.

Not even at my most pissed off moments am I going to try to take away from what Les has done.

And you damn right he's a victim of a standard HE helped create. He just couldn't maintain it.

This is the quandary Miles supporters have. They're taking it out on anybody that's ready to move forward.

Maybe Miles isnt a quiter and doesnt want to leave the team when the gling got tough. Did you see how much the media destroyed Spurrier for doing what youre suggesting miles to do?

If he doesn't ask for more money he is shiting on his best tenure at LSU? You guys don't read the the original post well. I posted after reading some fans are raising money to buy him out and thought a man with such integrity shouldn't want any more money to resign.

Yet many still worship Jindal? He has screwed LA over more than anybody else. I wish people would hold their elected officials to the same standard s as their football coach. Miles need to go for sure. LSU needs a HR hire.
