Every OL has rules (maybe a count, maybe a covered/uncovered). Not quite sure what you're asking here. Doubles occur differently against different fronts. The unblocked or "read" defender may vary based on the playcall. A tag could be used to include the TE/H in the blocking scheme taking the "read" away. Again, all can be found in the team's playbook.

You are thinking of playbooks as in what you did in youth football. Modern offensive schemes are incredibly fluid. They are based on what the defense gives. All programs run similar stuff the ones that have athletes and coaching to take advantage of what they are given succeed.

thankyou.gif

playbooks are more "philosophies/concepts" than, say, a madden playbook

OL know whether it’s 3 step or 5 step

how many of these do you see in a game with a modern offense? the majority of plays are out of the shotgun with a modern offense

It's just concepts and terminology. 3-step concepts: Hitch, Slant, Quick. If in the gun, then there's basically no drop, it's catch and throw.

5-step concepts: Intermediate route combos. If in the gun, then there's basically a 3 step drop by QB.

I think we are getting wayyyyy too literal here.

i think a better way to simplify it is

"playbooks" are really philosophies

"plays" are more specific attacks on certain geographies on the field based on the defense (and how the players know how to attack with each other is via the playbook/philosophy)

i think mike leach (who is basically the architect of the modern offense) installs his entire offense in 1 QB meeting

They gone and "Felon Po Binder 2020" brings us Pelini and Linehan.

Its his first coordinator position. Its a difference between positional coach and coordinator.

Okay let me expound for you. OL know whether we’re throwing a deep crossing route vs a quick slant vs a cut block screen call. shite people.

He is a master if rpo's.

That's straight out if norv Turner's mouth.

He has already talked about mismatches and putting 5 guys in different positions.
I think it will look a lot like the 2019 playbook but obviously dofferent since the personnel isn't the same.

You don't have jefferson and chase and clyde catching the ball

Secret playbook will clearly include:
Russell Shepard Halfback Pass
Stingley Jr at WR slant
Toss-dive left
Any pass play designed for the TE between 2008-2016
QB under center in goal line formation

We know he has never been an OC. How does the process go of building his scheme, if he never had his own?

Does he take the playbook from a coach he has worked under? Or do most new coordinators use the scheme they played under? Does he sit at a desk and just draw up a bunch of plays and give them a name?

I am just curious. Not trying to be a dick about it.

I wonder the same thing. Does he ask someone with OC and play calling experience to help him out? Maybe Russ Callaway can help him out. Is he still there? Maybe Coach E will help him out. Good question!

I think you evaluate your dudes, pressure test them in some situations and then build your playbook to fit the skill-sets that you have.
