I agree about making them pay back every dime the university spent on them if they declare early.

Do you know anything at all about the economics of college football? LSU doesn't spend a single dime on those guys that they aren't responsible for bringing in. How much money do you think LSU provided to Danielle Hunter? LSU probably covers all of its scholarship and food stipend costs with the profit from a single SEC home game.

I've always wished we could create a culture around the program where leaving early was simply unacceptable, and would make your teammates really frown upon you.

There are 3 teams you should pull for: Navy, Army, and Air Force.

Compare the compensation value of what they are getting before taxes; The tuition, room and board, food, training facilities, tutors....it's like $75k

No fricking way it is anywhere near $75,000. I live alone in a 3 bedroom house, have a gym membership, go out to nice dinners with my girlfriend regularly, and I don't make much more than that. These guys share apartments, eat at a cafeteria, etc.

There should be a minor league for the jackasses that are marginal and still leave. They never intended to be a college student. They simply want to showcase and leave.

The NFL should pony up some money for a minor league rather than have colleges pay for them.

The NCAA would not like that as those guys are the cash cows for the TAFs of the world.

I think college football would still be as big. It's all about competition between schools. There would be a level playing field and we would truly have student athletes. It probably never happen because why would the NFL spend money on a formative league when they can let amateur athletics foot the bill.

Do you pay college tuition? Do you have access to the same athletic training facilities these guys do? Do you think these guys pay for their very expensive muscle protien shakes? Do you pay for a tutor on top of that shite? C'mon man. I guarantee your gym membership is not the same as the LSU football athletic training facilities

If you were to have a job and have taxes taken out you would need to be paid $26k just to cover the $20k tuition if you were in-state, $48k if you were out of state to cover the $38k.

By the way, time to start saving if you ever want to have kids

It's frustrating bc it seems that LSU is hit harder every year than any other school. I don't know why or what the answer is.

Apparently, they did not have the same level of talent that we've had.

5 losses says different, unless you want to blame the coaching, which to my knowledge you never have before

Maybe LSU guys are ultra talented but still too inexperienced for that talent to translate to more wins. I dunno

Do we need to offer them new equipment and/or better study facilities?

c'mon man

If you got the money, perhaps you can 'incentivize' them to stay

You need to fire your CPA.

Negative. The talent level would drop significantly and they'd be competing with your "formative league" who is getting the better players who really don't need to waste time going to class when they could be preparing for their actual profession.

Your tuition numbers are grossly inflated.

we are on different sides of this argument. College football is bigger than Pro Football for many. If it was all about people only being interested in seeing the very best athletes, they would watch pro football.

College football needs student athletes, not the guys who are there only to hone skills. In fact, many simply can't stay out of trouble because academics mean nothing them, see Winston, Gurley and many others.

Many excellent athletes will still want to come to college before turning pro.

I'm sure many will, but most "excellent athletes" would not. NCAA limits the amount of time they can practice. That wouldn't be the case for the guys in the minor league.

Start paying them some money. A couple of thousand a month or 5k, a semester. The SEC, PAC, and B1G could do this.

As I said no need to sweat it, for the foreseeable future, you are going to enjoy seeing kids that are simply doing their time. They want to get to the NFL and team means very little. We can continue to question why LSU "student athletes" leave early.

All I'm advocating is give the ones who only care about pro football an opportunity to get there without taking up space in a university. Let them choose.
