I really thought we’d be putting up 250+ yds per game without a problem. Our WRs are supposed to be top notch. I know Daniels hasn’t always had a clean pocket, but last night he had time. Are receivers getting open? I’d kind of like to see him take more chances downfield and trust the receivers to make plays.

Daniels doesn't see the field that well. He needs to improve his accuracy down the field toward the sidelines as well. He does well throwing to the RBs out of the backfield (nice touch) and hits our WRs really well on short, quick outs and slants.

The vision and downfield stuff need to improve for LSU's offense to really take advantage of how many good WRs they have. But Daniels is a gamer, a great runner and a tough SOB.

you dont. Keep calling the short passes and hopefully the WR fools em and hit em big. Its working now dont change it. JD is playing good enough for now.

By all accounts JD is very coachable. 3 games worth of tape of him not seeing plainly open or coming open receivers should help him improve in that very important category. We’ll see. I’m hoping for the best.

Kelly needs to work with him every day. I thought Kelly was supposed to be pretty good at developing QB's.

McElroy and company made some good points about JD needing to look downfield when running to find open receivers

They should probably start by implementing more scramble drills in practice with an emphasis on Daniels staying in a throwing stance, not tucking it. Most of the open receivers are open because he starts to scramble and the defense knows he's not going to throw.

If they can draw up a few plays with that in mind, it can be a great foundation to build off of for a confidence builder and downfield vision.

Short throws
Roll Daniels out of pocket
Bring Boutte or Nabors in motion and pitch catch with them to ge them in space

Daniels has to trust his receivers if we run go routes throw it up and let them make plays.

Time.....Joe wasn't lighting it up when he first got here either. The more reps they get together it will improve.

This is why he has not thrown any pics thus far…too conservative and doesn’t trust wr routes

Get more creative in the run game. The off center/tackle runs in the first half go nowhere when the D is fresh. The game didn’t open up until we attacked the edges with RB screens and quick outs to the WRs

Step one: see receiver.

Step two: throw to receiver.

JD has difficulty with step one.

Need to call the game more to Daniels imo. Get him going early playing two minute style offense early. Once he gets his confidence up and running open up a bit down the field. Just my 2 cents. The kid can be really really good if we figure it out.
