Bradshaw has earned more money playing dumb than he did playing football. His throwing style in high school and college was really weird. He had a very high arch and it changed once he got to the pros.

He may be "dumb", but his personality makes him a whole lot of cash on TV.

Bradshaw is brilliant when it comes to reading D's, and it shows. I loved it when he was color commentating on last years' Sugar Bowl. He looked at ND's Defense, called it out as 'cover 2,' and that JR should have a field day on this play on the post (in fact, he said, "Have fun with it, Jamarcus"). The Tiger's dialed up a post pattern and JR burned ND for about a 65 yd TD pass. The guy is a friggin' genius!

Terry Bradshaw is far from dumb.... The man read his scripts like a mad man...

You want to call a football player dumb, take a look at Mike Vick... Went from Hero to Zero...

Peitra (or whatever), you are an idiot. went to school with tb, and he did not take the test 5 times and he did not want to go to LSU. And spellcheck??? you need to check on idiotcheck - it would erase everything you type.

Man i swear there are some really big arse idiots on this board. Just some player haters. Don't be pissed cause Terry didnt go to LSU. He didnt he went to LA TECH, so dont call him a dumb arse or whatever you want to call him. He was a very good QB at Pitts, and the man is making a killing on fox from, my point of view he is pretty damn smart. so get off his arse since he didnt go to LSU(that doesnt make him stupid). Just be proud he is a LOUISIANA boy.

Read my post! I did not say Bradshaw was “dumb” – only that he could not pass the required SEC test for an athletic scholarship.

A couple of years ago at an LSU game, I sat next to another guy who graduated from the same high school as Bradshaw and he seems to remember a different Bradshaw than the one you describe.

I understand that you went to school with Bradshaw. Did you even know about the javelin record? Was he a good friend or someone you noticed in the shower? Did he discuss his failure to pass the test with you? Did you graduate?

My bad, I guess Coach May was just blowing smoke up everyone’s rear.

PS: Cassius Clay took the draft induction test three times and didn’t make the grade – guess you went to school with him also and proclaim him a mental giant?

terry was good friends with trey prather. trey was arguably the best athlete to attend lsu up to that point. i'm not saying that others that knew are. trey signed to play at lsu and charlie mac told trey he was going to abandon the 3 yards and cloud of dust offense and start throwing the ball more.this did not happen and trey got discouraged and quit the team and school. before he could enroll anywhere else he got drafted because he no longer had a student deferal. he went to viet nam and got killed. terry was scared to death that this could happen to him if he went to the "big" university.charlie mac tried to recruit terry in the same fashion, that is we are going to throw the ball more. the rest is history. i don't think there was an entrance exam back then. i know there was not one in '71 when i went so i'm guessing there was not one in the mid 60's when terry was to go.

There must not have been an entrance exam or else Cecil Collins could never have gotten in.

He couldn't read or add and didn't even know how to zip his pants - he got in.

That is just him saying that. When it came to Louisiana public universities during that time, there WAS NO FLUNKING the ACT. You just had to take it and it determined your placement in certain course areas such as english and math. However, everything was open admissions at that time as far as public universities in Louisiana were concerned. Otherwise, some of us would have probably taken it more seriously than we did at that time. I would suspect that there were a couple of reasons Bradshaw was not at LSU. First, Charlie Mac actually preferred the running game and was more interested in having someone who could run the option out of the "Walking I". Second, there was this kid from Ruston named Bert Jones. Bradshaw wanted the spotlight to himself, and did ok at Tech. Meanwhile, Bert did ok at LSU, but the staff really did not make the best use of his talents while he was there. Paul Lyons was the better running quarterback of the two. However, Bert had the "magic arm". Even now, he admits that if he had those days to relive, he would have done things differently. His passing ability won some pivotal games for LSU. However, he was not an "option quarterback" nor was he meant to be. It would have really been interesting to see what a thoroughbred such as Jones could have really done at a school with a passing oriented offense. However, there weren't many big schools doing the passing game as their bread and butter at the time.

The misinformation here is incredible.

LSU had open admissions--that is correct.
The SEC had a requirement of a 17 ACT to be eligible for a scholarship. Bradshaw failed to get a 17 in his 5 attempts.

He could have walked on, but obviously chose not to.

TB graduated 2 years before Bert Jones. Bert graduated the same year as Joe Ferguson. Joe is the only player I know of that made all-state by acclimation.

Whatever the reason was that Bradshaw did not get in to LSU, probably started the stigmatism that he was dumb. I remember my brother in law make that statement when he entered La Tech.
