Did anyone hear how Latz did after his bullpen session on Tuesday?

CPM was rather non committal on the session. Said Latz may throw another bullpen on Saturday.

Why is everyone making such a huge deal out of this guy? I mean, I hope he is fine and makes a return, but what do you all reasonably expect from him? And I mean "reasonably". Some numbnutz on here seemed to think he was going to be the closer if he made it back. That can be discarded as pure idiocy.

I would like to see a list of pitchers that LSU has had in the past who made their first outing of the season in May and made a "significant" contribution to the team.

That list is very short, if it exists at all.

I am very calm. I just don't want people to have undue expectations for a guy who hasn't pitched all year (not saying the OP has). Maybe my brain was poisoned by the "let's make Latz the closer" thread from a couple days ago.

He pitched some before spring football practice too, didn't he? Or maybe even during it….didn't he come from football practice and play baseball on some days?

CPM said Latz was rusty, as expected, and didn't locate his pitches well. Right now all I want to hear is that he's throwing pain free.

I was simply wondering if a left handed pitcher who has such good stuff he was drafted out of high school in the 11th round, might be available to give us a couple innings in postseason. The kid likely won't be here past the end of his third year on campus if he's close to what he's thought to be. So if he can give us one big out against a lefthanded hitter in the post season, why not? I wasn't promoting him for the Golden Spikes jackass. Settle down.

he's rusty as would be expected
the only game left you might put him in at this point would be UNO, beyond that where do you throw him into the mix, close game out of the bullpen in a regional, I don't think so

maybe in a meaningless sec tourney if you don't need wins to host super

jones was a different story, injury free and throwing 90+

Ranaudo's freshman year. Had surgery the year before and didn't pitch until very late in the season.

Honestly I don't recall. I was hoping someone here would remember. Watching him come off the mound and chest bumping Buzzy was

So the list includes Ranaudo, Jones, and Will Harris right off the top of my head.

I think Hodges was hurt the year before though, he pitched during the season to mixed results and then turned it on during regional and Omaha

Newman and Reynolds would be similar to hodges return

Fun Fact/CSB: Trey Hodges took 27 Advil on the morning of the CWS Final vs. Stanford.

Dreadlocks of Doom made an impact. Just one example is enough for me. Latz is a big time pitcher, why do you piss on people wanting to see him help the team?

Fair velocity with very rusty command as you'd expect after the long lay-off. If he stays pain-free and his command comes around he may pitch against UNO week after next.
