I grew up playing sports against him but I didn't go to Assumption High. I am however from the area. Brandon didn't play a ton until his senior year when he bursted onto the scene racking up a ton of yards. The two backs before him both play college football. Brad Hill played at Grambling and Rudy August played at Nicholls. All three of these guys ran for over 1500 yards when they played so Brandon basically waited in line.

He wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. I have actually heard he was in special ed but that has never been confirmed. I think he was just a product of a terrible school system and he coasted through school with anyone pushing him. Since he didn't have the grades he had to go to a Juco and he killed it there as a running back. Of course a ton of schools wanted him but mostly as a defensive end and I've even heard linebacker. He didn't want to make the switch and Auburn offered him as a running back. He was stuck behind Cadillac and Ronnie Brown. They also had a guy name Trey Smith who was pretty good at the time also. LOG JAM!

Brandon transferred to Southern Illionis after the 2003 season. He then had to fight off competition from Arkee Whitlock
:Rushing Statistics
NAME CAR YDS YPC LONG TD
Brandon Jacobs 150 992 6.6 0 19
Arkee Whitlock 151 959 6.4 0 12

Luckily he had some great pro days to get picked by the Giants and everyone knows the story from there.

I think his story is a pretty good one. The guy had a tough childhood and also had a ton of hard decisions to make and they all worked out for him. He is now a millionaire and one of the best backs in the NFL.

Congrats Toby

Terry Jackson also transferred to SIU that year, he was tired of sitting behind Barber and Mauroney at Minnesota.

FIrst of all, I went to high school with him and a lot of these stories are far fetched. So, I'll try to give y'all a time line. Yes, he was in special Ed. He did not play football until his sophomore year and did not start until his senior year. He was never committed to LSU! Mostly because Saban wanted him to play DE. He originally played at Coffeeville Community College and then transfered to Auburn. He should have been redshirted behind CW and RB but he wasn't! So he transfered to Southern Illinois. Yes he was dumb as a box of rocks! Yes he did spell his name wrong on the ACT. But today he is a millionare and he is laughing at us all!

Ha ha u know him as Toby too. We were actually good friends at time. We played AAU basketball together. It was that saban basically wanted him to play DE. Auburn offered running back so he signed. And he also wanted to leave the state like his good friend Darrel Owens who had just signed to play bball at Georgetown. And there is not that much exposure at Assumption.

I played AAU for the L.T. Rockets and I believe I graduated the same time as Toby. DJ was also a stud who had a good career at Georgetown. What team did you guys play for again?
