Because the saints are in year 3 of believing they have a championship organization. LSU is in year 9. Saints fans are still happy to be good. LSU fans take it for granted.

I think LSU fans are a lot more diehard. I'm not saying Saints fans are not, but the Saints have more bandwagon fans. Seems a lot of people starting with the WHO DAT after the Saints won the Superbowl. Drew Brees has changed the entire Saints culture. Saints used to be losers, now they expect to win now that Brees is there. LSU always has the expectation to win.

good point dunson. As fans we all need to step back and relax and understand that they all had a bad game...like we all have bad days.

We have to trust miles -- he had 1 million reasons to make the right call during the game and he chose to stick with JJ.

move on. go tigers and saints 2012. We might when BOTH the BCS and the SB

Exactly beeRRY. And for the most of the "well it happens over there," bullshite. And it is not just ranters here. How embarasing to be an LSU fan and have the butcher @ Whole Foods say man y'all treat your coach bad. I think the answer is that this great minority of "fans" are angry, bitter people who enjoy hating. Yeah, the loss sucked. Yeah I wish we had played better. Yeah, I wish they had coached better. BUT WE WENT 13-0. before that one point in history. Be thankful for once.

The Saints played hard and were in the game but got beat by a better team that day. They left it all on the field. The coach called a great game on both sides of the ball.

The Tigers played outstanding defense in holding the Tide to 5 field goals through 2 1/2 quarters of play. The Tigers offense was non-existent due to a combination of poor planning, poor game management, and poor execution. The fans are afraid these failings are due to the coach and that despite what he does well he will at some point in the future lay an egg again and we will lose an important game, again.

The meltdown isn't over the fact that we lost--it is over concern that the WAY in which we lost might mean our coach could make the same mistakes again in the next big game.

Capice?

Just my opinion but generally college football fans are more passionate about their team than pro fans. If the Saints lose I'm OK that evening. If LSU loses I have several bad days ahead of me.

This is a good point. It makes sense for college football fans to be more passionate. We have a vested interest in the team, we can relate because of either being students currently, hoping to be one one day in the future, or being alumni. (Yes I know there are plenty of fans who do not/did not/will not attend LSU) When I talk about LSU sports I find myself saying "WE" a lot. Not as if I am on the team, but damn it I am a Tiger.
I am a Cowboys fan so when I talk about the Cowboys I actually find myself saying "they" instead of "we". Because I am simply a fan, I have always been one, always will be, but I am not a Cowboy.

So DadFanAlum, how did it work for the first 13 games?

And no, the Saints did not get beat by a better team that day. They lost to an team they SHOULD have beaten by 14 points or more.

you have no idea what you're talking about

we blew the game because our dumbass d-coordinator decided to blitz with under a minute left on the clock and leave vernon davis in man coverage with malcolm jenkins. The worst we could do at that point in the game is tie

we gave them the game, fought back and dominated, then blew it in the end. Saints were the best team in the NFL and it wasn't close IMO. It took a fluke game for a team to beat us.

The difference is that we know Sean Payton is an elite coach, we know that the Saints were prepared, and we know that we have Drew Brees coming back next year.

The saints and LSU will both be the BEST next year. take it to the bank. MILES is the B-E-S-T coeach with a capitol "b". saban and bama got lucky. get over it. with mett and HB back we will rule. all haters should hang on the bummer boards. they are losers with a capitol "l"

and remember, when they were no 1, we beat them for the CWS crown. RIP skip, you were the best coach ever

Why is it that when the Saints go through their season, look like the best team in the NFL for most of the year, and then proceed to lose a playoff game they could have easily won, the majority of Saints fans, while obviously upset, say things like we'll be there next year and thanks for the great season?

In contrast, a minority of LSU fans who happen to be very loud bitch, moan, talk about how the program is falling apart, call for the coach's head, scream and rant about how th ecoach owes them an explanation
do you remember when Aaron Brooks was the QB there with Jake Delhomme (sp?) on the bench? The coach refused to play Jake Delhomme when it was obvios to everybody else he was the best option? there's a good comparison..
now, not so much....

Maybe the last third of the year and even then it is debatable, especially considering the lack of defense.

I assume it is the emotional attachment of having gone to school at LSU.

eh. We won the last 9 games and had the highest point differential in the NFL. We were destroying everybody after we made the changes in the St. Louis game. Our D was playing better than every other contender's defense.

See, Tim, that's sort of what I figured. Always boils down to race. For anyone that thinks there was a clear demaraction between either guy that played QB this year, you either are delusional, don't know much about football, are from the Walker area or a combination of the three.

NFL has a playoff, the goal is to get into the playoffs and then everyone has a shot. FBS is much different. You only go 13-0 once in a long long time. There is no playoff, and duplicating last year will not be easy, though LSU should be favored to do so. Still, one slip up and it's most likely over. Not so much in the NFL

To me the major difference is in the score board. That saints lost with points on the board all season and where never blown out. We lost after an amazing 13-0 season in the one game that mattered the most with a big ZERO next to our name. What hurts the most to me as a LSU fan was the embarrasment of our offense. At least go out with as many points as Bama had the first game.

can you imagine if the saints sign and trade brees to Denver for tebow, Van Miller and a no.1... as true saint in the saints, maybe people would care more. I know someone upstairs who would care more!!!!
