re: How can LSU be considered down graded at QB?

There is a difference between qb play and the offense. The offensive line unit Chip inherited was less than desirable. Auburn shut Oregon down because of the offensive line - plain and simple. I think Thomas made some questionable reads in the game but any qb is going to get flummoxed when the dline is in your backfield (btw - he still had a monster passing game)
I wouldn't fault Thomas for the LSU game either. He threw one pick but it wasn't a bad read.
The quality of linemen Chip is getting is unprecedented for Oregon. So are the wide receivers. Can't wait for this gimmicky offense in '12.

Nope. I hate to say it but he was a weak personality. He was not, and will never be, a leader. And to the other poster: JJ was definitely a leader. He was the strongest personality on the team. That's why Miles had to play him. He just sucked as a QB.
I think that you are confusing a strong personality with leadership. Common mistake in society and politics.

John grudens take on someone with potential is it means they haven't done anything yet. Mett has potential to be a good SEC QB. But I'm going to wait before i retire his.jersey.

Jarrett Lee never developed into team leader
Calling bs on that

Lee has a nice 8-game stretch going last season
He was never heavily depended upon last season. The team was winning with running game and defense. Lee barely averaged over 150 passing ypg in the first 8 games. Lee has turned into a mythical figure in LSU history.
We didn't have a great QB last season and still finished beating all of our opponents, the nation's best record, and winning the SEC championship. Mett should easily be as good as Lee and Jefferson last year as they set the bar so low. The run game and defense will still be there this coming season.

Why would any talented HS QB want to go to LSU...???
His HS offense is likely more creative than LSU's.
Lineman I would understand, but skilled position players especially QBs ...No Way.

Let what go? Jarrett lee was in fact a team leader. Why are you trying to tear down a former LSU player?

Its a frickin woman who wrote that. Mettt is a stud. Anyway I would be an upgrade over JJ and Lee

Let me repeat that. A WOMAN! I love women but dont give a shite what they say about any sport.

of course we are going to have an upgrade at QB. Did anyone see the QB last couple of games of last year.

What trend? It was one player for 3 years that held back the LSU offense.
You are exactly right. There is nowhere to go but up. I hope whoever the hell is in charge of game planning takes advantage of the fact we finally have a QB. After watching that bcs bullshite,it should not come as a shock that we have trouble recruiting 5* QBs, or at least getting them on campus. It won't be long now.

13 TD's 1 int in 8 games That's more than JJ threw in two seasons in only 8 games fwiw.
It doesn't change the fact that Lee had bad games in that 8 game stretch. The Oregon, Kentucky and Bama games were all horrible games by Lee.

Spot on. some posters on here act as if Lee was throwing for 300 yards a game. He was best out of the play action and was abysmal when the pocket started to get tight around him. 5 years in CFb and still threw off his back foot. With all that said, I still wanted Lee in over JJ. JJ refused to throw the ball at times. It would make me so frickin mad.

LSU runs a pro style offense and the qb plays under center. You actually have it backwards. Why would any qb with pro aspiration go to a team with a spread offense?

Oh the Irony. You shite on JJ every chance you get and before you switched to Team Lee, you talk shite about Lee more than anyone else and posted a picture of La Tech anytime JLee was mentioned.
