I'm not very confident Alleva can make the right hire post JJ either.

I'm including Blakeney in my prediction, even though I feel like he's gone if he can get drafted.

Why is Quarterman leaving a bad thing now? Dude killed ball movement all fricking season.

Quarterman would easily be our best returning guard, let's not fool ourselves. He played hyper inconsistent but we're left with:

Jenkins
Sampson
Patterson
Hayward
Mays

For next year at guard without him or Blakeney.

here. Who is going to help out Craig Victor?

Duop Reath, the best shot blocker in JUCO.

What? He mentioned transfers so I was curious if he was subtly hinting at Blakeney like someone else on here was the other day.

Next year will be poor, but think about the year after. Johnny will be fired after/during next year and I'm not sure how he will recruit anyone worth a damn:
(1) b/c everyone knows he's a lame duck
(2) what good recruit will want to play for a coach who is a laughing stock among media and other basketball knowledgeable people

2017-2018 may have a Trent Johnson type team feel to it.

Isn't Louisiana stacked in 2017 and 2018 in basketball recruiting? Keeping Jones this year will only do damage to our ability to recruit those individuals.

The new coach who takes over in the Spring of 2017 will be way behind.

This is the perfect example of the lack of leadership within the Athletic Department. There is 0 foresight to future of the program.

I can say without question he much better than Odo. He has a very polished offensive game and has a great jumper (similar to Victor) and can even hit the 3. Reath wont be a star, but he will lightyears better than Odo.

Jenkins is the guy I'm not very high on, he can not shoot the 3...but is a defender.

He didn't play inconsistent he played like arse except for 3 games all season. Dude was a detriment to the team 90% of the time. I don't think he was a malcontent, but he played disinterested from the start of the season. I think it's addition by subtraction.

I'd agree if we have anyone better, but we wont. It's not addition by subtraction to see likely your best possibly returning guard leave.

He averaged 11.2 pts, 4.6 reb, 3.6 ast (to 1.6 TO), 1 stl and shot 34.3% from 3 (which sadly was our 2nd best 3 point shooter on the team)

Jenkins and Reath's highlights. Reath is nothing like Odo, who couldn't properly catch a post entry past to save his life. I was actually surprised by how polished Duop is.

Jenkins was Lee College's leading scorer too. Averaged 16.4 points on a loaded team. Not a lights out shooter, but ended the season shooting a decent 32% from deep. More important then anything else though, is that Jenkins and Reath will bring toughness which is something we majorly lacked this season. Our team was soft as baby shite for lack of a better term.

Admittedly, I haven't watched their videos. Hopefully, you are right. I'm still seeing a sub .500 season in conference.

Even if Reath is decent and Victor improves some on his defense & getting into foul trouble, that's it for us down low....Darcy, Elbert & Bridgewater are not SEC caliber players. You can't expect any sustained success with what we have.

I'm actually slightly optimistic. Low expectations that I think we could easily exceed. If quarterman and Antonio come back i think the team could be interesting. With a year in college Sampson should improve. It wouldn't surprise me if he was big time next year. Patterson another year older. Mays is a very interesting freshman. And the two juco's should help especially on defense. Victor could make another jump. That's not to say that we should be picked to make the dance but I think the doom and gloom is a little early. We are bringing in like 5 new faces let's see what they can do before we make predictions

The conference will be bad again next year and I really don't think this team will be much worse than this year. You lose Ben and I get that but maybe they will be an overall better team. Sampson can get better and the key is keeping Blakeney. You have a big coming in from JUCO. Elbert and Epps get just a little better and you have guys that can at least give you a couple minutes a game. Patterson needs to go back to how he was as a freshman. I don't expect them to be more than a tournament bubble team but I also don't think they will be as bad as some think.
