good idea.

whether or not anyone will buy into is another story, but this idea makes people think and curves them away from the normal-bullshite-mainstream ideas.

And when the NCAA finally gets the sack to make a 12 or 16 team playoff, this idea will be even better for the next year. If teams ranked 17 thruough 36 are out of the playoffs, then they will play their bowl game tough to set them up for next year.

Come on guys. It's pretty obvious why LSU hasn't sold out tickets to this game. LSU has one of the most accepting and loving fan bases in sports, and they are having a hard time drawing the line between supporting their team, and infringing on the civil rights of homosexuals wanting marriage equality...

why pay $90 from LSU when you can pay $35 on stubhub. LSU rapes me on my season tix. I am just doing my small piece in returning the favor.

This. My season ticket money for football and baseball should suffice. Im not paying 80$ for upper deck seats from
LSU.

Family isn't going and it has nothing to do with boycotting the game because of LSU, the AD, or the SEC. It's just not a game we are excited about. Sadly there are probably teams with a lower ranking I would be more interested in seeing LSU play than Clemson.

The guaranted tie ins with the bowls only work if the conferecnes are of similar quality, and we know that is not true in the least.

Bingo. Instead of paying $90 for garbage endzone seats. I paid $100 for great row 6 seats around the 10 yard line.

I'm guessing Clemson is having difficulty selling tickets too.

Does LSU 10k tickets sold include 2 tickets for each player and band member tickets?

...Guys, I hate to break the newsflash to you but, no one is getting any of your "messages" about the state of college football by you not buying bowl tickets.

You will be sending a message whether you like it or not that LSU fans won't travel to non-BCS bowl games. Don't fool yourselves. If you don't like where LSU landed this year, they could fall even farther in the pecking order when these non-BCS bowls hear your message.

How do I know? I saw it in the 1980's. LSU didn't want to travel to non-BCS bowl games. They only bought 5,000 to the Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa. LSU fans got a bad reputation that was not repudiated until 10 years later.

So, if you want feast of famine in the bowl selections.....keeping sending your messages by not buying tickets.

I'll be in Atlanta with 3 other Tiger fans having a blast.

True fans will buy a ticket and watch our team. I'm excited for it. Quit the bitching and support our tigers.

I've been saying this for years now, which is sad, but here goes. There is only one way in, my simple little mind, that the BCS can make every bowl relevant. Match up teams based on their BCS rankings, and CARRY THOSE RANKINGS FROM YOUR WIN/LOSS OF THAT BOWL GAME OVER TO NEXT SEASON. This would replace preseason ranking bias, and guarentee your team is ranked next year to start if they finished with a good year.
just when i think the rant can't get any stoopiderer....

Some friends and I were talking about this the other day. I think most posters here are too young to recall this. It took a while for us to overcome that reputation. I think this still factors in to why the Florida bowls don't like to select teams from the west because of past ticket sales. I remember every interview with the LSU coaches and administration leading up to that game was about the poor ticket sales and for several years anytime there was a discussion about bowl selections a comment was made that "LSU fans don't travel well" for bowl games. That was during the economic collapse in Louisiana, so there were many factors, but ticket sales do come into play.

By the way, I will be in the GA Dome cheering for my tigers.

Should be a great game...Won't be our best turnout ever, but I'm sure we'll have 10-15k in the stands

For those talking about the game "not selling out"... The game is already officially sold out. (LSU will only return 3-4k tickets and Clemson won't return any).

There won't be many empty seats with Clemson only 2 hours from the Georgia Dome.
