Hope for the best, but let's be prepared for all options

This move, while I'm ok with moving forward, makes me very nervous.

I am excited about the possibilities and ole Les's Iform/2 TE set is getting old, and we'll never get back on par with Bama with that offense.

But...since he took over, LSU has more wins than any other team in the SEC. And we've seen what happens to schools like Florida and USC when the Meyer's and Carroll's of the world left.

Most LSU fans will be happy, but I'm not sure we're all being completely realistic of the downside of this move, if we get the wrong guy in, we could be setting ourselves back 5 years.

I believe we're 13-10 in SEC play the past 3 seasons, not good. I personally think Les deserved 1 more season, but again, I'm not really against his firing, even if it's a tad early IMO.

I'm cautiously optimistic, that's about how I'd put it.

the last 3 years is the issue. we can't look at work from 10 years ago that doesn't mean shite.

Why be nervous? This program isn't going to be anything more than a 3rd or 4th place perennial team in the SEC west under Les Miles.

If I felt confident that he could win a national title in the future I'd be "nervous", but I don't see anything to be anxious about. This seems like the correct move.

You're very correct.

I'm just saying, we all need to realize there is a big risk in this move. Again, worth taking, but the program could take a nosedive if we get the wrong guy in, like other similar programs have done.

I won't miss his brand of offense. Too many different OCs have come through and put the same miserable product on the field. He was good at surrounding himself with good assistants but losing Chavis and replacing him with Steele was a death knell

My fear is that we have become the entitled, delusional fan base that we ridiculed for so long.

I can't poke fun at Bama fans any longer.

Forgive them, Lester, they know not what they do.

agreed its a risk unless we get Jimbo.

I would hope Jimbo is the only target at this point and we can pull it in.

That's sorta what I'm hinting at.

Like posters have said, a lot of us have lost confidence in our ability to compete, so in that regard, yes let's make a change.

But we shouldn't just assume the new coach will come in, keep the ball rolling and get better or maintain. All I'm really saying is, look at other schools in similar situations, it could get much worse than the last 3 seasons. That is what makes me nervous, even being cool with moving on from Les.

Plenty people feel that way. Probably even the "anyone but Miles" crowd, but being this close to finally getting their way, they can't back down now.
