Honestly, how beneficial is the bowl game?

I know we have to play the game, but again, like UCF in 2018, LSU will be extremely short on players.

I guess the extra practices are super helpful, but the game seems like a high risk of injury to players.

I'm not suggesting that the game be canceled, I'm merely asking a question.

In b4 "We'll let the NCAA know so they can cancel the game".

Practices will probably help some players. Let’s Kelly get a close look at returning players.

Other than that, not much benefit

They aren't playing the game for you so don't worry about it

You answered your own question.

When did the people of this country become so scared of risk, potential risk and living life? You can get hurt doing anything. Why not play the game you love and are getting paid (scholarship) to play.

Sometimes LSU fans are the worst about starting a stupid rumor & keep it going. LSU is playing in the bowl game against Kansas St. no matter how many times we ask this question.

Nobody said anything about being scared. It's a question of risk vs reward.

Unfortunately, non-playoff bowl games have essentially become pre-spring ball scrimmages. But those practices and the game are very advantageous for the development, and in the case of new coaches, the acclimation to the young players that will be relied on the next year. Although Kelly isn’t coaching in the bowl game, I suspect he will observe quite a few practices so that he can learn more about his new team.

Maybe you should ask the players who busted their arse all year(seniors especially) if its meaningless.

Enormous for the young guys who want to show what they've got. Probably keeps some of the guys focused and out of trouble over the holidays as well.

Any extra time practicing and playing is helpful, especially when getting a new coach. The Texas A&M game was also a risk of injury. You play the games because you are scheduled to play them.

Joe Burrow throws a 93-yard, pick six and gets blindsided by a 313-pound defensive lineman on the run back for what should have been targeting and then taunting. UCF takes a ten point lead, while Joe Burrow was lying on the turf. Burrow gets off the deck and proceeds to throw for 394 yards - the third most in a single game in LSU history to that point - and four touchdowns for a 40-32 Fiesta Bowl victory. It was the beginning of the Joe Burrow legend and set the tone for the National Championship run the next season.

It’s a good opportunity for kids to get reps who don’t normally get to play routinely.

It's like Rainwater of "Yellowstone" said about Kayce's young son who shot an intruder to save his mother's life.

Paraphrasing:
People have become conditioned by today's society to be sheep. Sheep that when they are attacked by wolves, they are taught to not fight back. Instead they are conditioned to seek out the sheep herders for protection. He is indoctrinated to feel guilty that he did something wrong when he is a hero in reality.

FBS just needs to go to 24 team playoff like the FCS and do away with bowls. Either playing for something or the seasons over like EVERY other collegiate sport. Bowls are outdated.

Is Kelly actually in charge of bowl practices though? And if so, whats the point of having an interim coach?
