Honest question: how do some of y'all talk about football all year long?

I'm not trying to bash y'all at all so please don't take it that way.

For me, as soon as the bowl is over, I move on and look forward to baseball season and whatever big basketball games are coming up.

What is it that keeps y'all talking football? Is it just because you like football over the other sports? Do you just not care much about other sports?

Again, it's an honest question. Not trying to come off as a dick.

I think you answered your own question

It's the biggest sport and some people don't really care much about the other ones

Recruiting is a year round process 24/7/365...that's what keeps me talking about it all year.

Recruiting basically keeps me in football mode all year long. Looking forward to spring practice and game too.

Football is king, it's the biggest money maker and the most popular. Pretty easy to see why people talk so much. Also, add in recruiting and spring practice and it's practically year long

Thinking about it year round is not the same as thinking about only football year round.

Because there is usually something to talk about year-round. Recruiting, spring football, summer workouts, Fall practice, season, bowls. It ain't that complicated.

To be fair, the recruiting, and offseason happen in baseball and basketball too.

Yeah. I really don't talk football all year long, but, if I'm talking about a sport, I'm talking about football.

To me, there are two seasons. Football season and getting ready for football season.

The other shite is just filler. I'll watch it cause I like competition but, it ain't the same.

It's not too difficult to follow more than one sport.

Why not? If you're a fan, all year long.

And it's funny because while I played HS football, MY sport was baseball. I was pretty fricking good thank you very much.

But, watching Major League Baseball is an eyesore for me now and even college ball is merely tolerable.

So much for being attached to the sport you thrived in.

The incessant amount of exposure to recruiting has actually made me lose interest in college football. These 17-18 year olds are treated like prima donnas, add to it the veracity of the 24/7 media devoted to it. Think about recruiting like a multi million dollar industry with aspirations of these kids having one thing on their mind, the NFL.

Rivals, 24-7, ESPN 300, Scout, etc are the new fantasy football IMO. More emphasis is placed on recruiting than the actual football teams outcome. It has become too saturated of an industry. With YouTube, every kid feels he is a superstar. I'm in my mid 30's, so it's not that I'm that old, I just feel the Internet recruiting sites and social media are making college football less enjoyable.

Love Alex Box and baseball. I also enjoy the P-Mac and basketball as well. If I were just a football guy, I'd be miserable.

Personally, I can't watch a single second of basketball. I just don't enjoy the sport (especially what it has become today) and I can't sit through hours of baseball. It's just not that exciting to watch to me. Football is by far the biggest of the three.

I will admit that the whole recruiting thing is something I've come to ignore for exactly the above reason.

I mean, one thing I've come to realize and even commented to my wife about last year was the reality that..........well, let's be honest.............a lot of the dude's we're cheering for on the field people we would find COMPLETELY unlikable in real life.

Most of them have had their arse kissed perpetually since it was first discovered they had talent. The reality is, when you raise a kid in that environment, him not turning into an a-hole is practically the exception.
