Offense line and quarterback play has been weak. Not coaching, but talent.

Running backs are great.

Come on man. You know that's not what was said.

Honest assessment of talent on offense

it's as talented as almost any offense in the country. Extremely underutilized and doesn't seem excited to play.

Could some of their problems be that they are required to sustain blocks for longer amounts of time due to offensive scheme? Slow developing running plays, and deep drops on pass plays, require different techniques than quicker developing plays. Let's see what changes a different offensive approach might have on OL play.

NO! If we don't practice to a teams talent/skill set, then you get what we have seen on the field.
The ex players on the Finebaum show went through the scenario yesterday.

If you practice all week running the ball, the defence knows our tendancies and puts eight men in the box. We run Fornette repeatedly into the line. Then we attempt to pass. We haven't spent enough practice time on a passing offence. It fails. Back to running Fornette into the line

True. But, there are as many or more badly thrown passes than drops.

Meh. I think they're SEC caliber route runners. What we don't see is an SEC caliber passer - and haven't since 2007, excepting Mett.

Etling has put a dozen balls on the money that haven't been handled.

Discipline is definitely an issue. Consistency is an issue. I think chemistry is a big factor, both with Etling and the WRs and the O Line. Thankfully, those are things that can be overcome, and with some different guys in charge of development and focused on change, maybe we will finally see some in-season improvement.

We faced a much better Auburn D than last year, and Steele knew our O personnel and tendencies very well. We're better than we looked Saturday.

Scheme, play calling

Because this has been deficient we have NO IDEA what we have on offense except for the RBs.

Until we run an offense that fits the personnel we have instead of making players fit the scheme we want...we won't know.

This is likely what the new focus is. Chuck the stuff that doesnt fit the guys we have and keep the stuff the does but add on.

Excepting the bowl game, we've looked this bad going back to the Bama game of last year. That's the flaw in your analysis.

Neither the o-line nor the receivers are very talented, however the narrative for so long has been that LSU had more talent than anyone, so the majority of the fan base spouts that off as if it is a fact. The fact is, both of those units are not as talented as most SEC schools.

I agree with the o-line we have struggled to produce on any significant level for a while.

The receivers have talent we just don't have the right mix yet, scheme has hurt and coaching has been less than great.

But, discipline has killed the offense for a long time. It is a little better this year but we still have a ways to go. Think back to when we had the Matt's at QB--neither were ultra talented but the offense was very disciplined and had a rhythm to it.

I sure hope we see that offensive rhythm again.

Few SEC Caliber linemen in the bunch, thanks to "Zone Boy" and his ripping off Miles.

Grimes and his "Square Peg Round Hole" method of OL recruiting (Just like LM with the QB's) is primarily responsible.

Why can't we and why don't we go to Minnesota, Iowa and California to recruit and sign talented SEC Caliber OL's like Bama does?........
