mett is better than jl or jj. we need some combination of better ol play and a little more creativity and diversity of wr routes and schemes.

Stats can convince folks only when they are open to a discussion and not when it is an emotional outburst and subjective post.

When you expect a first year SEC starter to play like Peyton Manning, you are in for some disappointment.

Mett will make mistakes but he has the tools for the job, the OL needs to improve and the WRs need to up their play as well.

Explain why he is staring down the receiver? Is it because we are running a one route play near the end zone? I have seen enough so far with this offense to say that Mett is unprepared period. This offense has gone backwards for whatever reason. Just check out the stats. We have played some very weak teams so far and I have struggled passing the ball efficiently. All we run is quick slants, hitches, short outs, or rails down the sideline. All these passes are hard to get picked. Why does the staff not have confidence in him throwing anything else? We don't even run middle screens with this offense. His awareness in the pocket concerns me. Just watch the game, he is unaware of pressure on the edges and telegraphs his throws. I ain't down on Mett, I am on the coaches responsible for having him ready to play.

Mettenberger is basically Ryan Mallet.

if he had mallet's receivers his last year at ARk and a 0-line to give him time, he would throw for 400 yards a game.

The bottom line was the quote from the Towson DE, post game, who stated, bluntly, "we knew LSU cann't pass, so we loaded the box". This is not from a typical ranter but from an opposing player who'd studied film on LSU's passing offense. And when a team "cann't pass", for better or worse, it does start with the QB. Re the OL, go back & reread all the preseason predictions: it was supposed to be LSU's deepest & most talented OL in decades. Yet, we lose on starter & now we cann't run or pass block? The WR's were a preseason question mark & that is holding up. Play calling has always been an issue with regards to CLM, but with this, it's easy to see why he's hesitant to give the passing game much freedom. Mett & the OL has not seen a real SEC blitz yet,as AU's was not real test. The big boys from USCe, Fla, A&M, and bama are going to be licking their chops if this is not turned around now.

JJ, yes, he is better than.

JL, no, up to this point he is not. People seem to forget that while JL didn't throw the ball that much last year, he was very efficient with it, leading the SEC after 8 weeks. JL would get the ball out quick....and we actually had a rhythm on offense.

I would expect something like this from you though, the "1000" times better....Brent Musberger junior.

You made some good points, then you went to this, which tells me you have no clue what you are talking about. Auburn may not be a great football team, but they are very talented, and especially on the DL.

There are issues with Mett and others, don't let the mett lovers convince you otherwise. They fall in love with his pretty deep ball, which I agree is nice...but they forget he can't make quit reads, and no pocket presence, can't scramble, and is a turnover machine. However, I still think he can improve in some of those areas...with experience.....mainly the turnovers and awareness.....

But, LSU is favored this week, and will be favored in every game in October....so the sky isn't falling yet.

frick You arse clown....simply stating that our fans and most of them are new apparently... thinking b/c our team has fallen appart the coach sucks and the fricking sky is falling b/c they looked like crap against lesser opponents
This team only gotten halfway excited to play one game and that was UW...
And most fairweather fans just don't seem to understand that..
I've cheered for this team for 30 years and I won't stop...It's the new fans like you that are fricking pathetic...
So do me a favor and go swallow some razorblades and walk into a burning building...
Or wake up and realize there is no real reason to be hitting a panic button for any reason on this QB

This is either hyperbole or pure ignorance.

Mett has some weaknesses but this is pure drama.

his turnovers

Are my biggest concern. The fumbling and tripping over his own feet are very disturbing. I can't tell if he's not serious enough or if he needs to settle down a little.
