yea I think LSU basketball will cut some highlights together.

I mean, they are marketing the hell out of this team

Exactly. I think we will only get the good on video and not see any of the bad. I'm intrigued to see what kind of stat lines we even get.

I was fortunate enough to attend a recent practice. The amount of offensive weapons available with this team is unmatched in recent years. Defensively I see us being very average. I'm very old school and like to see good man D and was disappointed in what I saw. But No Doubt we will get our monies worth this year.

Sampson is going to contribute more than I thought as a freshman. We will be playing a lot of 3 guard sets and maybe even 4 gaurds against small teams.

Appreciate the info. I am a bit worried defensively and I'm hoping that will come with time. I think Hornsby, Quarterman, and Blakeney should be good on the perimeter. I am worried about post defense for sure.

Concrete judgments from 1:20 of video

Blakeney is a bit more athletic than I thought he was

Patterson is just too savvy and makes too many good plays in big spots to keep him off the court.

I'm sure I'll get blasted, but I think Sampson will be the freshman guard that makes the biggest contribution to the team. Blakeney is more athletic, but Sampson can flat-out shoot. I remember watching him play as a Soph. when Martin was a Sr. in HS and thinking Sampson was clearly the best player on that team.

If they can defend, they have a real shot to win the SEC

It's not that you will get blasted, but AB was considered one of the best shooters in the country. Sampson played at a Class B school...I would HOPE he could dominate. Blakeney has balled on all circuits and some think he was the top SG in the class. I think Sampson will be an awesome player, but physically he isn't there. He will have flashes of promise but will go through more growing pains than most.

Do you see any significant progress on Malone, Epps or Robinson III compared to last season?

I think Blakeney shot like 46% from three point land last year... He can flat out shoot too.

I don't think players realize how much more physical the game gets at the next level. The biggest jump for those Fr to So campaigns is normally maturing of their bodies.

He looks good.

He can still practice with the team, right?

Are you talking about Victor?

By rule, I don't believe Craig Victor can practice with the team for the two weeks prior to Australia. He cannot practice in Australia either, but the NCAA is allowing Victor to go on the trip and act as if he was on injured reserve.

Yes, I was just worried he wouldn't be able to practice in the fall either

This is correct, Victor cnat play/practice with things dealing with Australia trip but he can practice when regular practice starts.

He can practice in the fall. Just not these two weeks. Even though these are not real games, they are regulated by the NCAA so Victor is out. As soon as real Fall practice starts (in 59 days) Victor will be available to practice, just not play in games until the end of first semester (mid december).

Malone and Elbert were lost as they ran mostly transition sets the entire time I was there. Epps looks like a player ready to explode he has so much ability but just hasn't grown into his body yet. Still very unsure while going full speed, one trip down he looks great next trip he fumbles away a perfect pass.... Benny looks like a 4th yr. pro, already running the point on many breaks and bringing the ball up a lot .

Epps is the guy I think takes control and could become a starter with Victor out. He is up to 6'10" and his athletic ability could have him in a Jordan Mickey role this year.

Its like Blakeney jumps off a spring board whenever he gets up.
That dude has hops like ive never seen in an LSU guard.
