I'm not surprised that some react emotionally to such posts as this because they have never worked in such situations. To them everything is black and white. In reality, situations like this are much more complicated and that was communicated by Les Miles. The personal privacy issues of the players are an issue. The families of the players are an issue. The protocol of the university and of the team are issues. And what the Head Football Coach wants to do with all of this is an issue.
You see, what ranters - like many of the one's on this thread - fail to understand, is that nothing is as it seems to the public. Nothing. We as fans and media know so little about this situation that it makes everyone who talks about it looks foolish (including me).
That is why I like to think about what would a HC like Miles be facing behind the scenes. How can he use this situation for eventual good for the whole program? What is "too much?" What is "too little?" This is why guys like Miles get paid the big bucks - because they have a track record of getting stuff like this RIGHT.... right for the team and right for the players and right for the university.
I am reminded of when RP eventually thanked CLM for dismissing him from the team. RP said that it was the best thing that ever happened to him and that CLM was right. Of course, many of the fans and many of the media questioned CLM for years for his handling of RP. Some said he did too much; others said he did too little. But those closest to the situation know the truth.

We the fans don't know what is truly going on behind the scenes, but I can say with almost 100% certainty that CLM knows exactly what the punishment is right now. You're right, it's complicated and the repercussions could be a PR shitstorm, but tiptoeing only compounds that. To assert that the performance Saturday has anything to do with how he'll treat these three is just childish.

Yeah..."they" are the "ranters". You're really overthinking this shite. If they don't play the bama game it will be because of something they did or didn't do between now and Nov 5. Not because we handled auburn without them.

Here's my strategy about your post:

I think he's suspending them for Auburn and letting on that they may be suspended for even more games so that he can keep 'Bama off balance in their preparation for LSU. I think that's also why he hasn't told the media exactly what he plans to do insofar as discipline. He's playing EVERYBODY (including us) just like he plays the coaches standing on the opposite side of the field from him on autumn Saturdays.
Now we ALL know how frustrating it is to try to figure out what the hell he's scheming under that hat!
The true Evil Genius doesn't wear a visor, nor does he reside in Tuscaloosa. The true Evil Genius has a northern Ohio accent, a boyish, innocent smile, and wears his hat high on his head. Anyone who tries to figure out what is going on in that head of his soon finds himself dizzy and bleeding from the ears.

I'm not sure how that word fits this...
But nevertheless, here is where you are wrong. If game play doesn't effect who the coach considers as a starter, once the original starter has been suspended, then JJ would have become the starter again as soon as his suspension was over.
For you guys to think that CLM is only considering policy is to be naive. CLM, if anything, is a master strategist. His education is in business management (or something like that). He runs this program like with far more wisdom that he gets credits for. There is simply nothing "childish" about any of these possible strategies. There is a reason that CLM will not confirm or deny. A real reason. A thought through reason that goes way beyond drug-testing protocol. In fact, had the press conferences not already been previously scheduled you would not have even heard as much as you did from CLM. You would have gotten a one sentence report - if anything at all. Most probably the latter.

Wha wha wha what da frick? Now I know where the players got the shite they smoking.
Rarely do I laugh at things posted here, just usually shake my head in awe of the stupidity of human beings, but I really laughed at the first quote, and agree with the second.
