Sure, he had a rough game at 3rd last night but when it counted, when he needed to get a hit, he delivered. Big 2-run double in the 14th to win it.

Here was a good article the Advocate had on Hale the other day. Don't know if it was posted elsewhere but this seems like a good place.

Not sure why anyone is saying this. That would have been an incredibly tough double play to turn. If he would have charged it, he would have had absolutely no chance to turn and get the lead runner. Yes, he should have gotten an out on the play, but given that the next guy hit the first pitch he saw about 410 feet to dead center 3/4ths of the way up the wall and Stevenson fell down trying to field the ball, we still would have needed that double in the 14th. Saying that the ball that fat bastard hit SHOULD have been a double play is pretty critical.

Agree. Even if he gets his body in front of that and doesn't try and backhand it, I don't think we get a double play on that.

Rea was running. It was a DP ball. He fricked it up.

He doesn't have anything to do with what we're saying. That wasn't going to be an easy play at second base. You don't know very much about baseball if you think that was an easy routine double play ball.

Nothing to do with Rea. I don't think we get the guy at 2B.

It wasnt tailor made but it was routine enough. He would have gotten the guy at second.

The guy at 2nd is out unless he was running on the pitch and im pretty sure he wasnt.

We'll just have to disagree on this one. He could have but it wasn't a tailor made DP. No matter what he needs to quit with that backhand shite.

Backhanding the ball like he attempted was the only chance in the world of getting the runner going to 2B. That was not an easy backhanded attempt by any stretch of the imagination. That would have been a very impressive double play had they been able to turn it. Anything but routine.

But like I said earlier, and I agree with TigerCub, he shouldn't have backhanded it. He should have charged up and avoided that short hop and just gotten one out. Still would have been a tie game after the next hitter though.

naw he could have gotten in front of it and gotten the guy at second as well. and the backhand pick wasnt all that hard at all really.

no it wasnt a routine 6-4-3 sunday hop DP. But it really wasnt that difficult. It's a play every college 3rd baseman should make.

right because the pitch sequence with runners on 1st and 2nd 1 out and runner on 2nd 2 out are completely the same.

As TigerCub said, we will just have to agree to disagree. It wasn't a very hard hit ball. He gets over and gets in front of it he isn't in a great position to throw the ball to second base with a lot on it meaning, I don't think they get the lead runner out and I definitely don't think they have time to get that huge fat arse running to first after those long throws would occur.

Come on man that's ridiculous. That's not a play that even every MLB third baseman makes. I think you have become a little spoiled by Christian Ibarra.
