All three have played 10 games.

Strength of Schedule (per Sagarin):
LSU (7th)
Washington (40th)
Oregon (54th)

Passing Yards:
Penix 3,533
Daniels 3,164
Nix 3,135

Touchdown Passes:
Daniels 30
Nix 29
Penix 28

Passing Efficiency Rating:
Daniels 202.1
Nix 184.7
Penix 170.5

Completion Percentage:
Nix 77.7%
Daniels 71.4%
Penix 68.0%

Rushing Yards (Rushing TDs):
Daniels 918 (8)
Nix 121 (5)
Penix -27 (2)

Passing Yards Per Completion:
Daniels 16.23
Penix 14.19
Nix 12.15

Total Offense Per Game:
Daniels 408.2
Penix 350.6
Nix 325.6

And if you really want to analyze Marvin Harrison Jr:

Receiving Yards:
Nabers 1284
Harrison 1063

Receptions:
Nabers 72
Harrison 59

Receiving TD's:
Brian Thomas 13
Harrison 12
Nabers 10

Ohio State has the 42nd toughest schedule. Obviously, Ohio State will get a boost after they play Michigan.

Outside of the lazy 3-loss argument, the other argument is that Nix doesn’t have to play the 4th Quarter because his defense is good. These efficiency stats are nice to win that argument too.

Penix and Nix will hopefully split the west coast votes, and voters that think W/L is more important will split between those 2. They have very similar resumes. Im starting to think JD has a chance if his numbers hold up.(and if he can keep up the media push) His rushing stat is what separates him.

perhaps, but Daniels has the least amount of passing attempts of the three...plus this:

Total Passing Attempts plus Rushing Attempts:
Daniels 387
Penix 386
Nix 370

W/L matters to Nix and Penix, but not their head to head W/L because Nix is the odds on favorite right now.

It makes no sense.

If Nix and JD swap teams, Oregon is undefeated and LSU is probably .500

JD > Nix

If Penix and JD swap, LSU still probably has a couple more loses than they do now.

JD > Penix

Oregon has 1 win vs a team with a winning record. I swear if Nix wins I will riot and never take the Heisman seriously going forward.

Both Washington and Oregon play Oregon State (8-2) over the next two weeks...hopefully the Beavers can spoil one or both of those player's Heisman chances...

JD transferred to a tougher conference while Nix transferred to a weaker one. They are not the same.

Considering the possibility of them splitting each other's votes, wouldn't we need Oregon St to spoil both or neither. 4 loss Oregon St could fall out of the top 25, taking away a win vs a ranked team.

I mean, this should really already have happened (well, maybe not the rioting part ). Heisman voting is pretty lazy, generally speaking--it's really an award for the most hyped player in a given season. With very few exceptions, it goes to the "most exciting quarterback on a top-10 team," not the "best player in college football."

I really hope that Daniels wins it, because he is a great player and seems like a good guy (and it would be good publicity for LSU). But all I know is that most of the time, when TV or radio discussions of college football switch away from analyzing teams and games to "Heisman talk," I roll my eyes.

Have always hated Nix and the fact that he has 1 win vs a team with a winning record this year should eliminate him from any consideration. Hes stat padding against crappy teams. I'll give him this he played pretty well against Washington but was outplayed by Penix.

Marv is a great player. But he’s the only receiver putting up big numbers on that team, one could argue their QB force feeds him the ball as he should.

JD's pulling off some insane moves, feeding both Nabers and BTJ while hitting rushing stats like Lamar Jackson. It's pretty wild.

But give Harrison credit. He's racking up those huge numbers against the vaunted defenses of Rutgers, Maryland, Western KY, Youngstown St, Indiana, Purdue...All of whom are in the top 400 in defense. What a joke!

Don't forget Peyton Manning didn't win the Heisman. If Penix and Nix falter there will be a full court press for MHjr., just like there was for Desmond Howard.
