love that response... Surprised nobody has suggestion we try play-by-play if we are so perfect. Or asked if we have ever made mistakes at our job.

We know he's not going anywhere, just having a little fun w/ his mistakes (the HR thing from last night did piss me off tho). I will say he's gotten better about the "it's a deep fly ball!!! Called off by the shortstop calls". Hasn't done one of those recently, so I'm sure he's due today...

I agree after every game someone comes and makes a thread and complains about Hawthrone.

Poor fellow.

Once it got by the 3B there was no chance of a DP. It was a pretty tough call tho. I give him credit for not jumping the gun & let the play develop before calling it.

I expect him to not say we had a "lead-off" HR in the 2nd inning, leading me to believe Raph hit it. (had to step away from the radio for a second)

Exactly.

Anybody with their head half way out their arse would know that every Hawthorne broadcast is littered with these types of screw ups.

What about when he and Bill started to talk about Kentucky's dramatic 3 run homer to tie Florida last night. 10 minutes later he was sorry to inform the listening audience that it was actually womens softball and that Florida's mens baseball team already won the game.

Yeah, I heard his call on the homer was terrible, from others. Watching it live, I didn't think that was going to get out, either. It just kept going. I mean, what a shot, an opposite field dinger on a guy that just made 2 guys look silly....it surprised everyone...me included. Not casting any stones on that one. Hadn't heard about the possible double-play call....

The problem with the call was that Hawthorne called it a double and then has his famous "wait a minute" response.

Sounds reasonable, but if the :beatdeadhorse: guys didn't listen how could they later come here and complain bout 1, 2, or 3 mistakes made on a 4 hour play by play call?

With all due respect, if you actually think Jim makes 3 or 4 mistakes a game, you are wrong. He averages three mistakes per inning.

Nice exaggeration.

It could be a lot worse. We could have those idiots from Kentucky doing our games...

Hawthorne makes mistakes, but who doesn't? I like Hawthorne regardless of the mistakes. He is passionate about LSU athletics and loves what he does. The grounder to to the SS by Dozar was a tough play. If that gets dug out by the 3B it's probably a double play.

That is not an exaggeration. People who listen closely and know the game know this is true. He corrects himself constantly because he tells the audience what he thinks is going to happen instead of actually calling what happens. A great example is the 9th inning of the Florida game when he told us "all you can do is admire that one" while three seconds later the right fielder makes the catch (not even on the warning track).

It can always be worse, but that should not be LSU's standards.

When presented w/ tangible mistakes he makes every broadcast, it always comes back to this. He loves LSU, I grew up listening to him, he's passionate!!

Meh, give me boring ole Hanagriff, who actually conveys what's going on in the game & is knowlegeable about the sport over some passionate, rah rah ole tard whose broadcasts are riddled w/ mistakes. I'd just like some confidence that what I am hearing is actually taking place on the field. With Jim it's always a guessing game.

Just one mans opinion

I'm passionate about LSU sports. I guess I would be good at calling the games too.
