This is true. John Ferguson had that great voice and I grew up listening to him on the radio, so I do have a soft spot for him, but he was an AWFUL play by play guy. Way too slow with the call and often misleading. I often heard the roar of the crowd for 5 full seconds before he told me what happened. Just not good at all.

All those supporting Hawthorne probably haven't listened to him call an LSU football game the last 4 or 5 yrs. And I can handle some misques here and there but the freakin negativity calling a game makes it excruciating to listen too...

Last time I checked, when you get the third out, that is retiring the side. Jim certainly messes up an awful lot, but this is not one of those times. You're going to have to come with something stronger than that.

I'm in your corner. I never have a problem listening to his calls. I mean as long as you understand what's going on you pretty much understand what's being called, and many times know if he misstates something in his account.

I don't need someone's voice to make me feel excited, or let down.
What I DO need is to know what is going on in the ballgame.
That is where Jim fails.
I can look past the way he pronounces names, but when something is happening, don't sit there and tell me "I can't believe it" for 5 minutes before actually describing the play.
