Sadly, it will NEVER be the rivalry or tradition it used to be up until the mid ‘90’s tho. The dome used to be packed with Tulane fans vs LSU, particularly thru the ‘80’s.

That’s because Tulane was once a New Orleans school with New Orleans students.

Now it’s a school where rich East Coast families send their kids who can’t get into one of the Ivys and/or want to party in NOLA for their college experience.

dk those small schools benefit a lot from the big games, gives our guys a game to work out kinks and get in a groove, and it’s not like the committee cares if we play Jacksonville State or Southern, it’s all just cupcake FCS win so

I’m an LSU fan, and a season ticket holder. I don’t care if it benefits Nicholls or Southern. My tax dollars do that.

To get the kinks out we could play ULM, Ohio, or a host of other teams that give out 85 scholarships and who at least are in our class. Playing schools that hand out 63 scholarships and have much fewer resources and charging full price is not fair to our opponents or to the LSU fans.

It’s even worse now with the portal as the big schools loot the BCS schools and take their best players. The playing field is becoming more and more unequal.

How is it ignorant, it is a true statement. There was a time when HBCU’s had some top talent. Them days are long in the past.

The "Human Jukebox" performance at half-time will be the only interesting and entertaining performance on the field that night.

Have no idea what the "Boring Band from Tiger Land" has planned for that game, but it better be something out of the ordinary or they will get embarrassed just as much as they did against the awesome Jacksonville State band about 5 years ago!

TGBFTL has regressed to the level of Orgeron LSU football and it will continue until there is a total purge & overhaul. (Just like in Football)

If it was just a football game between the 2 teams, that would be one thing. But with the social justice environment we now live in, the game itself will get buried under a wave of karens pontificating to us.If you don't think the Gary Chambers types of B.R. will be all over social media, pounding their chests, you are either very naive or plain dumb.

SWAC schools are generally well below other FCS schools in talent.

Well below? I think the SWAC is well-represented on NFL rosters. I know they're not at the top...but I doubt they're at the bottom, as you suggest.

Hence the word "generally". The only ranked SWAC schools were FAMU, who got curbstomped by the only good team they played, and Jackson State, because of Deion. SWAC and MEAC teams are a step below the rest of the FCS. It is why they created the Celebration Bowl.

Absolutely not why the Celebration bowl was created. That bowl was created as another money game because the SWAC and MEAC don't play in the FCS playoffs. They choose not to because they make more money on their rivalry games down the stretch through Thanksgiving weekend like the Bayou Classic, then they would for the entire FCS playoffs, which would cut their seasons before they could get those games in. The Celebration Bowl gives those conferences another game, on nationally televised TV unlike the FCS early rounds, that pay out well.

Honestly, both Grambling and Alcorn State in the SWAC over the last 10 years have had teams that could have gone deep in the FCS playoffs, especially Alcorn over that stretch where they were destroying everyone in the SWAC mid 2010s.

The SWAC has a lot fewer players in the NFL than do the weaker BC teams. It’s not even close.

Terrible take. HBCU’s don’t participate in playoffs because they lose money. They make way more money playing inter-conference and big p5 games. Even though a school is an HBCU it is still apart the NCAA. You can’t separate teams
