To me, it seems like our chances of winning a national championship will be pretty low for the next two years because of who all we loose. Nevis, Peterson, and KShep were all leaders and very good defensive players. The loss of those key players, combined with our future schedule seem to point towards a few championship runs in the next couple of years. I thought that this was the year to win it all. What say the Rant? Will we be reloading on young talant that can get a few championship runs going, or will we have to wait a couple of years before we get some additional leadership and experience?

we need to win our division first, which hasn't been done in 3 straight seasons.

Until we fix the holes in the offense and defensive coaching staff. We'll be stuck where we are with a very lucky 10-2 record

You lose those types of players every year. Remember Dorsey, Stelze, Landry, Clayton and Williams? Some young guy steps up and takes their place

It isn't always the team with the superstars who win championships.

It is the teams that play disciplined and believe in each other.

That being said if we can start getting offensive production we will be fine.

We will win the NC next year. Losing Sheppard, Nevis, and PP7 hurts but it's not the worse case scenario considering all the young talent we have on both sides the ball. We will get JJ back next year and whether you like it or not, I'm willing to give him another shot with a new OC but put a very short leash on him. We are loaded with WRs and we won't know what to do with this cluster-frick of RBs. No excuse why we can't be successful.

Even though we won more games than expected and started having bigger thoughts once we got into the season and started 7-0, this season was never pointed to as a possible championship year. We will return more talent and experience next year than we have in a long time. But the schedule will be tough, we need to make some coaching changes, and we do lose some key leaders.

I think next year is our window. Every other team in the SEC west takes a much bigger hit than we do. I expect Cam and Mallet are both going pro, and McElroy is a senior. That means our 3 biggest rivals will be breaking in QB's.

Ole Miss - ain't going nowhere
Bama - loses McElroy, Ingram, and Jones
Arky - loses Mallett
Auburn - loses Cam and about 20 seniors
UF - who the hell knows

Our chances are just as good if not better than anyone else in the SEC the next few years. Especially if we get Mett

And i seriously cant figure out how you thought this was the year we'd win it all. Most people predicted 7-8 wins.

You can't be serious. Alot of people predicted 4 losses this season. If for some reason Mett. decides to pick LSU and the coaches get the current tomato cans on the sideline, where they belong, LSU will be in the hunt for another sec championship. They have plenty of weapons on offense and lots of guys with experience returning on the D. With a qb to lead them, the future looks bright. Add in the recruiting, which argueably, could be as good as the Clayton/Spears class and there's plenty to look foward to.

That window was never open with J.J. as our starter.

Total fail and you must either blind or stupid. This is the youngest team we have ever had in decades, and are one great QB and pro style offensive coorinator away from the BCS CG.

This.

You could hold every Senior over for another year and you'd still be looking at losing two to four games minimum.

While I agree with what you say about the QB and OC, look at it his way.

The most dynamic KR/PR we've had in a long time (more so than Trindon) is probably going pro. We will need to find a replacement for him as both a return man and conerback.

Josh Jasper, the best kicker to ever play at LSU that I can think of, will be gone. He could consistently make a FG from well over 50 yards. Gotta find a replacement for him (he will be the hardest to replace I think).

Drake Nevis, who had a year very similiar to Dorsey, possibly better, must be replace. Your think Brockers or Downs can step up?

Barksdale, a 4 year starter on the o-line, will need to be replaced.

Overall, we have a very young team. But it's not so much about how many players we loose compared to which players we loose. In regards to leadership and impact players, we loose a lot I think.

They could be worse. I don't know what their QB situation is like.

worse on offense, better on defense. We have to go to Tuscaloosa though.

Arky - loses Mallett

They have a very good backup that could possibly start at LSU. I don't know who they loose on defense though, and I think a lot of their o-line are seniors.

Auburn - loses Cam and about 20 seniors

Auburn is done. Loose everyone, probably Cam. They would've lost 5 or 6 games without him, and could've lost 3 with him. This is assuming they even have a team next year.

UF - who the hell knows

Pretty much sums it up

As for Miss State, we are more talanted than them, but they are getting better. Time will tell.
