plenty of people hate on him for hiring Les Miles
Well, there is a large portion of LSU fans who are complete idiots so they would think this way.

Bertman is probably the one.
Winning consistently will do that.
Clearly, Miles hasn't done that.

you are pretty on with your assessment. Especially with the tantrum throwing next gen fans. It's like that all over.

Bertmas as coach not as AD, Sue Gunter, Pat Henry as track coach till the Bogus Firing, Larry Schiatanno (when LSU had a wrestling program) , Dale Brown early on and certainly not so much later, Paul Dietzel. Im sure there are others but we don't always eat our own.

I think the problem you see with today's fans, most of the ones on the tardbox here are under the age of 40 and come from the "I want it now" generation and throw a freaking tantrum

Dietzel
I'm kinda up there, but not up there enough to remember Dietzel. Again, different time. Would things be the same in this day and age?

Dietzel and Bertman both come to mind. Both won National titles and had sustained success. Football today is a different animal however. Auburn fired their head coach just two years ago, which was just two years removed from a national title. Many were calling for Miles' head in '08/'09 in the aftermath of ejecting Perrilloux which created a similar situation to now with playing the young, inexperienced QB's in the SEC. He bounced back with 44 wins in the next 4 years, including a shot at the NC. This too shall pass.
