I keep hearing about these Houston boosters and unlimited money. Yet no actual evidence of them ever being anything or paying for anything sustainable.

Tulane alums probably have more than LSU alums too. They don't value football and winning like we do.

Bring on Herman!!!!!

It ain't just a coach's salary they got to bump up but also the facilities need millions of dollars worth of upgrades.

Shitty commuter school in the ghetto that averages 25-30k per game. They think they are the shite but it's a huge step if Herman leaves for LSU

Not many coaches have the opportunity and skill to make a program great for the first time. It's an attractive proposition.

Yes. They were kicking some arse in the 80's. No matter what though they will never be better long term than say an Aggy or Texas.

Bill Yeoman had them rolling in the mid-to-late 1970's including 3 Cotton Bowls in 4 years.

2006 they won the C-USA

2011 they almost went undefeated, would have if Sumlin didn't announce he was going to A&M.

1996 they led LSU 34-14 in the fourth quarter.

In 1989 Andre Ware and Co. put up 90 points on a team.

Yes.

Can't remember their records at the time but they had some pretty good qbs in the late 80's early 90's with David Klingler and Andre Ware. Both Heisman finalist with Ware winning it in 89.

There is a reason for that.

There was a time when Texas fans rushed the field after upsetting UH. Seriously.

Defensive Tackle Wilson Whitley won the Lombardi Trophy in 1976.

UH also won the Southwest Conference three of the first four years they were in it, finishing No. 4 in the final poll after winning the 01-Jan-1977 Cotton Bowl.

Longtime Coach Bill Yeoman created the veer offense.

I have lived in Houston for 36 years. Unless UH is winning (like now) they get very little fan support or media coverage. It is not that attractive of a football program. UT and A&M (and I would venture to say LSU) have more support in Houston. That being said, UH has some very wealthy alumni who can put up money but they can not outbid LSU, UT or A&M. I think Herman can be enticed to leave UH.

Is there a sustainable commitment from the boosters to build the facilities?

I'm just struggling to see a scenario where the Houston job is more attractive than the LSU job.

Money for money. I just don't see it. If anything, I'd be more worried we draw him and he leaves within 3 years for the NFL.

Sumlin

Briles and Sumlin used UH as a stepping stone. I hope we are Herman's next stone.
