I've had to learn 3 different offensive playbooks and 2 defensive playbook.(all in college, played 1 season at wr, transferred to community college and played Wr, transfered to a 4 year, redshirted at wr, put on weight, transferred to defense learned a playbook, then got a new coordinator and had to learn a new playbook my final year.).

The first playbook my freshman year was easier to learn. Spread, HUNH, check with me with basic play calling and route trees. Utilized the screen game heavily.

The community college offense was much harder. Still a spread attack, but the coach sent in 3 play calls on pass plays(1 for man, 1 for 1 high safety, 1 for 2 high safety). All these check with me's were covered in practice and team meetings.)

Second 4 year was a pro styled, run based offense.

The defense playbooks were much harder. Having to adjust the play all based on alignments and motions. Didn't see the field my first year because I had a very hard time catching on. Saw it my final year because the second coordinator defense was much simpler.

We line up in a pro set but what we do out of it is so basic.

Our gameplay was to control the clock to keep the defense fresh, and play for field position to keep get a short field. Its what you do when you can't pass.

It clearly wasn't working against Arky, but they changed nothing. There is no game plan for not being able to pass, and as minute after minute goes by, you might as well try the other qb. He had one bad game, so they just bench him forever?

NO but at the same time, change all his bubble screens to runs, and the other links and dunks to runs, and his number would probably go way down.

That's speculative, and his yards would still be far above Jennings.

The funny thing is that Harris is also the better runner.

Which is great but an antiquated term and nothing to really hang your hat on. You can count on your hands how many time nfl teams line up with less than 3 WRs in a game. And like you said what we do after the ball is snapped is about as basic as you will find.

I played at the FBS level for 3 years and the NFL for 6. Yeah, I know what it takes to learn a playbook.

a freshman filled offense is not going to get you to the promised land.

Ok so our sophomore QB got us to 8-4, you call that the promised land?

The point being is after we lost the Bama game we were playing for nothing more than what bowl game we would go to plain and simple. The team goals of 2014 "other than making a bowl game" were unattainable, so why not plan for the future.

Playing Harris in both the Arky & TAMU games would have been the prudent thing to do considering our current QB was dead last in the SEC in just about every statistic available. If you call that kind of play the future than we are fricked no matter what we do.

Giving Harris more live experience under center in a couple of SEC contests would have been a smart "no one can accuse Miles of that I guess" thing to do if you are expecting a QB competition going forward. If you are really not "which is what I am concerned about" than playing the QB that you envision playing going forward is the smart option.

Didn't read any of that.

Nick Marshall can barely speak but he was still able to learn a playbook.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. The question I have is why did CLM (assuming it's CLM and not Cam) quit playing BH6 altogether after the AU game?

I can deal with AJ starting if he is really the best option to win games right now, but why not at least get BH a few snaps at the end of some games and vs cupcakes? It seems like we were doing that before the AU game and then just stopped playing him?

How is BH going to develop with no snaps in games? This just reminds me too much of the JJ/JL debacle that went on for WAY too long. arky game was excruciating just like the mulligan NC game.

One of CLM's major flaws is personnel decisions. Another is stubbornness and taking too long to make a change. We need to make a change very soon (e.g. start giving BH some snaps, bring in a juco QB). I understand the need for patience in some situations, but I don't see how this is one of them. Instead, we need to put some heat on CLM.

It's not the play book necessarily, it's the pre snap reads and checks. It's how you read blitz and check to the correct blocking scheme and put the offense in the best situation. Even next year will be tough for him but it's up to him on how tough it is. I think they need to practice these situations a lot with him this off season!! Put dummies on rails and make them slide up and down side to side. It's a good idea to do, LSU has money and making a small investment like this will only pay off. Put a big rail system on a field, any field and hook dummies up with either air or electricity and make em move up and down and side to side at the correct speeds, different heights ect. Or put dummies on sticks and make people run around the field so he has to throw in windows. And have some rush in his space? They need to do something to help this kid get better fast. I know other schools do similar things.

I honestly have no idea why he doesn't play in garbage time. Like I said, I'm all for playing Harris when he's ready. It might have to do with the JL situation. He should play garbage time, but some people here think we should throw away a win to get him playing time. But the coaches wouldn't be not playing him if he was clearly the best decision.

Miami has a true freshman running their offense. I know the account isn't the sec. But even during the ooc opponents Jennings wasn't lighting up the Stat sheet. How hard is it to turn around and hand the ball off 2 times and on 3rd down put a quick pass in? At least Harris would have a few real snaps under his belt. Instead of going into next season with basically what we had this year with Jennings as our qb.

Kenny Hill ran the same offense that he does at Texas A&M all four years of high school. Brandon Harris had rarely even taken a snap under center before coming to LSU. Some of you people are really fricking dense..
