I am as excited as anyone about seeing Harris play and I think we should commit to him being the future regardless of results doing forward, but I am wondering if what the coaches are concerned about with BH is his ability to read defenses...

BH has looked good at the end of the MSU game and against NMS...he didn't look particularly good prior to that...the MSU D rushed three and was playing a soft zone almost exclusively when Harris was in...not much to read or figure out there...
NMS played a very base defense with no pre-snap changes and BH did a lot of check with me and NMS never changed their defense after the check.

I think BH is the answer and he needs to be our #1 QB...but I am concerned a more sophisticated defense will expose what the coaches concerns have been...I hope not but we'll see...

Of course it's a concern. He's a true freshman.

Lol.

There has been a group saying Harris was better since the spring game.

The "real" fans seem really upset that fact is true.

Compare the two. It's not like you can say Jennings has this down so they are both learning. And BH has shown much more in limited play so far. It's time to see what he can do as the starter.

That is a valid concern, but I don't believe AJ can read a defense either. Another problem with AJ is he is determined to throw to one receiver from the time he steps behind center whether that receiver is covered or not, and no matter what the defenders positions are on field before the snap. Seldom if ever does he look for his second option.

Ell oh ell

Did you really just ask that question? Have you seen Jennings? He can't see the blitz for shite. It's pathetic. Harris sees the field. Trust me

Just the fact that the defenses back off immediately when he's in gives us all the reason we need to start him. He is a threat passing while Jennings is not. Jennings starts and they stack the box the entire game

No we have no concerns, we are all completely convinced that Brandon harris will take us to the super bowl.

And he does not have the ability to make the throws Harris can. Harris has ELITE arm talent.

I agree but my concern is fans' expectations for this kid are now off the charts and if he struggles against Auburn, will the fans turn on him next?
We need to temper expectations and be prepared to take some lumps with him...

of course

There is no downside to playing Harris.

As a matter of fact, I see a much more diverse offense in regard to sets, patterns, and calls than when AJ is in the game.

The BH playbook looks a lot like the ZM playbook, add in the fact that BH is more mobile.

I just cant understand what more the coaches are seeing in practice regarding AJ when it is obvious he seems LESS prepared and they trust him with less of the offense.

And this is overlooked. Jennings has been with Cam the entire time, but Jennings only played a little against Arky and the bowl game. He just doesn't have that much more game experience than Harris.

And, he doesn't seem to be improving, while Harris is.

If Harris is "thrown to the Tigers" next game, and gets shelled, what will "fans" say then.

LSU "fans" can be disgusting, though - they'll boo Jennings for not playing well, even want him to get injured so Harris will play. If Harris doesn't play well, they'll do the same to him.

Disgusting.

I think it may be a concern. He's a freshman after all. But Jennings can't read the D for shite either. The difference is purely on talent and self confidence in the throws.

Jennings held the ball way too long last night and the previous games because he wasn't confident he could make the throw. He just doesn't have the zip on his arm. Harris has the confidence and the skills to get the ball where he wants it.

I think the bigger games will show how well he can read a defense and if he can adjust/audible out of a bad situation. But he's young so there will be growing pains. My concern, until then, is the amount of time we waste playing the meerkat offense until it clicks for Harris.

LSU has a shot matching point for point with Auburn with Harris starting. The defense is going to get shredded either way.

Look, this post is stupid because it is obvious. Of course it's a concern, he has yet to play a good defense during the heat of the game. We know we have a playmaker though, with ridiculous ability. over the years he will get big, stronger, and faster. He will read coverages better, and make better decisions. He will run the entirety of the playbook. Until then, He will learn on the fly this year and win (or lose) on mostly pure talent.

I think I remember seeing that Harris didn't start playing football til his freshman or sophomore year of high school, which is ridiculous when you realize how much serious talent he has as a QB. With his IQ and strong leadership qualities, he has all the makings of a top level NFL QB. Add in Cam as QB coach, and a true NFL type offense (once he gets everything down), this guy is going to be a freak player.

Right now he is on the novice course so I hope everybody can be patient when he does make a few mistakes.

and this was a guess. based on extremely limited exposure; one bowl game and one practice scrimmage. the coaches know a HELL OF A LOT MORE about the strengths and weaknesses of each player than we do. in spite of what you think, you are NOT coming from a position of knowledge when you decide who the best player is. so to brag about calling harris the best long ago really is not a compliment to you.

no they aren't. I know of no "real" fan that doesn't want to play the best QB. you are making this up. you seem to outright trash other peoples opinions if they don't completely agree with yours. AJ DESERVES his chance too. he has done the best he can and it appears that he is falling short RIGHT NOW.

athletic performance is not a mathematical progression. I can assure you that harris has got some bumps coming in his future. playing QB in the SEC is damn hard. we will need both of these guys. WHOEVER is playing for LSU is who I support. the people "knocking" AJ should be ashamed of themselves; he's a young man doing the best he can and he's worked his arse off.

if harris begins to struggle, these same people, probably including you, will turn viciously against him.

the only benefit I can see of this pathetic behavior toward our players is that it will help this team come together; it's sad that they may come to hate our fans in the process.

lastly, there is something about a person that unabashedly criticizes and demeans another when that person has NEVER WALKED IN THEIR SHOES. the coaches are paid to take this criticism but the players are just young people doing something constructive with their lives. they do not deserve being singled out.

I sure you, and others, will TWIST my words and defend your "glorious" role of savior of the LSU football team and then call me names. if you ever have a son and he partipates in sports or any worthwhile endeavor, I sincerely hope he gets better treatment than you have given other peoples sons.
