He was making comparisons on what Bama did better then us in the off-season. He said twice during the first hour that LSU didn’t handle the protest well and Bama did. Seems like that was the downfall with coach O and the players before the season started.

So is this the excuse? All I read about is no excuses so now we are going to go with we suck bc of not handling a protest well and ignore the guys we lost starring in the NFL this year

No the experts on this board said thst had nothing to do eith it.

Any time anyone mentioned O may have lost the team because of it we were assured that wasn't it.

Rohan has alluded to it many times, but anytime its been posted the down vote brigade shows up

it was a big deal. O going on Fox news a few times lauding the president didn't help. Should have taken the high road and not made praise nor criticism and declined the appearances.

regardless of how you feel, players and their families weren't happy with it. some didn't care, some did

Everyone I've heard talk about it said it caused issues that drug into the season. Doesn’t help when you have an agitator former alum going on social media and badmouthing the coach.

It was a big factor and one reason we started so poorly.
Outsiders stirred the pot and made it worse.

I really don’t think any protesting has anything to do with how crappy we are playing on the field.....

I will say this in ONE sentence......

Coach O has LOST this team........

That may be true but it still wasn’t smart of O. When you are in the business of recruiting 16-18 year olds African Americans, you should probably just avoid politics best you can.

It may be the perception but any player who thinks Alabama genuinely supports those protests more than LSU is an idiot.

The president was very kind and complimentary of LSU football in the previous months.
How dare Coach O return the kind words, right? He didn’t go out campaigning for the guy, he just spoke nice of the guy. It wasn’t like O gave him an award like the NAACP did.

I’m not a huge Ed fan, but he has tried be positive about this all. That included JBE and Trump. These kids can’t have it both ways.

the nick saban lead march was a total farce. it was a PR move only meant to appease the masses and make him look good.

He was going on national media advocating for players to play while most everyone else wanted to cower in a corner and cancel everything.

Obviously his comment about loving Trump didn’t sit well, but that comment was about how Trump has treated Ed and the team personally, not about politics.

Who cares? It's not an excuse. The coaches are paid well to coach and fix issues. The players are given free everything for (4) years to not cause problems and perform. Get it straight. This isn't a Social Causes 101 course.

We were also told the defense was better than last year.
