First, i wanna say i kinda feel bad for the players after games, pretty much every player walked by where i was sitting and they almost all got asked "hey will you get Simmons" or "is Simmons coming out soon?" They all seemed pretty fed up with it.
But when Simmons came out he was signing stuff for the people beside me.
I was pretty much right beside him and said "im going to see your hopeful future team play Memphis on Wednesday" * The Lakers*
He said "My Future team is LSU"
i said "i mean after this season is over" and he said "LSU"
Now i know this is how they are told to handle these situations.
But i just thought it was cool that he didnt have to say anything at all, there were plenty of people saying things to him and he wasnt really responding, but he still took the time to talk up LSU.
And giving me false hope that im pretty sure wont happen.

He said the right thing and I'm glad to hear he did.

Needs to show that commitment more on the court. I'd love it if he did.

The guy can't feel good at all about this being his legacy in college basketball.

That said, he's going pro.

In all honesty he needs some time to develop. The guy is a physical freak but needs to mature. He'd be the first pick in the draft which is almost impossible to turn down. How could your stock be any higher than 1? But it all depends on if he's thinking about going to the league to develop or wants to go into the league developed. IMO JJ hasn't exactly shown his ability to coach up players and teams so he may not even develop much sticking around here. I wouldn't be surprised if he did stay though. Seems to have a strong family. Not one of those guys that has to move on to put food on the table for an entire family.

Didn't mean he should be comppared to those players, but some people have that extremely high expectation of him that it's nearly impossible to hold.

Nobody hates him. People are fed up with how we can't win games against mediocre teams if we have one of the best players in the nation with a very talented supporting cast. Yes some is on he coaches, but if you're the best, carry the team like the best do. (See LeBron, MJ, Kobe, etc)

Near the end of the game alot of the crowd was chanting "OVERRATED" he went off and was unstoppable the, next few possessions. He spun between like 3 Tennessee plays to get to the basket for a lay up.
I wish we would've seen stuff closer to that from the start.
That being said, it obviously wasnt just him, those turn overs, missed FTs and poor shot choices never really gave us a good chance the 2nd half.

He passing looked more erratic today. I really think that finger is bothering him and they are downplaying it.

No they stated it was an "academic issue". Not sure if he's not going to class or what.

Of course it wasn't just him. But when you obviously have the physical tools to dominate and you continue to be disinterested at times and seem out of it, people notice more. His expectations are nearly impossible to live up to.

It's really ridiculous that he is being mentioned and compared to greats like this.

That's kinda his on-court demeanor though. He isn't an intense guy. He is more calm and nonchalant, even when he is playing his best.

Very true. The group of people behind me was talking about Simmons like "i want to see this Simmons who is supposed to be the best player in the country, see if he can prove it"
And i dont think he could've done anything outside of scoring like 35+ points getting like 6 blocks and 14 assists. Putting up numbers like that to back the hype they're judging him off of.

I realize that this may be out of an abundance of caution, but sometimes it's best to catch a bad idea before it starts: Ben Simmons is NOT returning for another season.

He will develop more with NBA coaching than he will another year at LSU. And as you said, his stock can't get any better. Makes no sense to come back unless it's just some "unfinished business" shite but I'm not buying it.

Also, i dont want to start another topic to ask this so i figured id ask it here. Were there any basketball recruits at the game?
There were 2 dudes wearing almost matching Nike sweats/ hoodies. Tall...tall dudes. And after the game they were hanging out with LSU player. Mightve just been a players relatives, but thought id ask.

My point exactly. Expectations way too high.
