Talk about spinning words to make the lucky Gump team not feel guilty!!! LOL. This same homer would be spinning opposite if in Ok. State shoes.

I guess he's trying to balance the article in yesterday's birmingham paper that said bama shouldn't be there.

That article is fairly well balanced. It's pro-Bama, which shouldn't be a shock. Call that spin if you like.

Only problem I have with it is it has a typo.

And it basically says the same thing Les has said.

"Alabama will get its second chance"

This statement alone proves that the writer is not being truthful. He admits Bama needs a second chance to beat LSU and OSU somehow didn't deserve a chance at all. Very telling line in the article.

Seemed reasonable to me. He could have written this in '03 and replaced Bama with OU or LSU as the team that won't apologize.

I think Cecil Hurt is a good writer and has a valid point. I don't think he is trying to spin anything. Alabama should not apologize for being in the game, they proved to be the most deserving team to be in consideration for the game behind LSU.

What's untruthful? It is absolutely factual. The line implies nothing about OSU not being deserving. In fact he ackowledges OSU's great season in the article. The writer just points out that all of the schools agreed to the BCS system and these are the results. It's a fair article.

The only spin I see is the OP's take on that article. Shocker, huh?

don't disagree with you, but what about the BCS process is fair. It's very subjective and LSU has benefited twice by that. This year is clear cut and LSU didn't need to hope for the best. Alabama is getting a second chance and OSU isn't. Not hard to see the writer is overlooking that fact.

BTW, I don't think OSU got screwed. The game is the right one. LSU vs Bama

Love it or hate it, we signed up to the BCS system and Bama got the benefit of some voters doubt over OSU. Time to move on and get ready to enjoy the Gump loss in Nola. That will be epic.

Uh, the writer actually says that. What's the deal.

He says it may be a flawed system but it's the one the shools all agreed to.

My mistake, he doesn't say Bama shouldn't be there. He said there should be a split title if Bama wins and the tone is sorta anti-bama.

The comments are epic from the offended Bama fans.

very cogent and fair write-up IMHO. If LSU were in these shoes, and this article were written for LSU, I would be pleases. Gotta say the same, even if for the dreaded Gumps.

Oke State losing to an unranked Iowa State team is why I am ok with the outcome. That was pathetic for a NC contending team to do. Period.

If Bama and Ok State played 10 times, I would say Bama would win about 7 or 8.

That means Bama should ne in the game. I would rather have played Ok State, but Bama is more lilley deserving.

+1

There only loss is to the best team in the country.

I don't care about the semantics of how many wins/losses vs this number of blah, blah, blah teams in the top this and that.

No one can say with a straight face that AL isn't the 2nd best team in the country.

His comments:
quote:

t's curious that North Carolina and Duke can play twice in the regular basketball season, meet each other again in the ACC Tournament, then square off in the Final Four without the previous three meetings being hung around anyone's neck like an albatross.

The reason this argument and the NYG New England rematch talk doesn't apply is that in College Basketball there is a playoff called march Madness which we should have in NCAAFB but we don't. For Duke and UNC to play in the final 4 they have to "earn" it on the court not get awarded the seeding due to someone's opinion.

The NYG New England Super Bowl rematch doesn't apply to LSU Bama because they are not in the same division, or conference. All teams in the NFC that the Giants beat got left at home.

Really Nick? Who says? The BCS says on its own website...

quote:

This robust system of post-season bowl games offers rewards for teams and places a great premium on the regular season.

Oh and by the way....it says nothing about matching the 2 best teams....just the two highest ranked. I think we can all agree the system was manipulated to keep bama @ #2

So no Nicky you didnt earn it. It was given to you.....and now you will be punished.
