Athlon's "anonymous" interviews with SEC coaches. "A steady decline"?

wow. you'd think LSU was at the level of Kentucky or Arkansas. No respect at all.

It’s going to be really interesting because their offensive coordinator was the offensive line coach.

Yep. LSU lost two regular season games the last two years same number as bama. I guess college football is now only measured by crystal balls.

It must suck for all of those sec coaches to keep losing to LSU and clm while LSU is in a steady decline. Maybe they don't understand the definition of steady or decline

I apologized in German, for my German. The comments just cracked me up. These "coaches" are as brainwashed as the media about that one particular team. They just seem to get better every year. Soon, they'll be making the jump to the NFC south.

When compared to Bama, every school is failing.

ETA: And one Bama poster got it right on SECRant earlier this week.

"LSU gets hit in the mouth and keeps on coming. Overlook LSU at your peril."

I'd give credit if I could remember the username.

The coaches know the score way better than some sportwriter hack. I love their analysis and frank comments, even if they sting a bit.

Ummm, no in real ones. 3/4 National Championships, that means compared to them that literally everyone is failing. Nothing mythical about it.

Ikr just 2 years LSU was undefeated heading into the NC. Last year they lost to Bama in a game they had won and another tight game that could have gone either way on the road to Florida.

LSU has one of its* best recruiting classes, and next season may very well be the best recruiting class in LSU history. but yeah on the decline.

Maybe we can get the new Fox Sports 1 to be our torch bearer. Maybe they'll hire some lsu grads as sports journalists. That way, we can go 9-3 and still be called "the best team in the nation", that, "just couldn't close out games". Maybe they'll immediately shout "rematch" before the clock even hits 00:00 during an LSU loss. "Under the lights with LSU" ?Maybe a "Geaux Tigers!" Commercial ? One day, maybe we too can pass "the eyeball test". Maybe, and just hear me out on this, just maybe, we will one day get a intra-divisional mulligan.

You know it's really just silly to even say a thing like that about LSU. Florida was in decline under Ron Zook; Florida State was in decline at the end of the Bowden years; and Tennessee was in decline at the end of the Fulmer era. These teams were putting up respectable records by NCCA standards but not by the standards of their schools and it was clear that none of them were championship contenders any longer. LSU is in contention for SEC and National Championships every year. 34-6 in three years is a decline? Don't feel like doing the research but, besides BAMA, has anyone in the SEC been better in that time frame?

Since 2005 we've been unsteady decline.

Despite 3 BCS appearances and two SEC titles and a shot at the #1 recruiting class

Which coach said this about Florida? I'll give you 3 guesses, and the second 2 don't count.

quote:

"I like Will Muschamp. I respect him a lot. The apple doesn’t fall from the tree. [ ] His mentor is Nick Saban, and he put his stamp on the team in Year 2 in regard to toughness and winning games in the kicking game and on defense. They lost their defensive coordinator to the NFL, but D.J. Durkin is one of the bright young coaches in the country, and their special teams have been outstanding the past two years. I respect them a lot.”
