Greg Penn plans to stay at LSU. He started 25 games over the last two years, so there's some continuity in the middle.

Is this where we downvote and talk shite about an experienced SEC player at a position of need returning?

Because, as Daniels proved this year, players never get better with more experience.

This almost feels like when Les started doing those press conferences with guys that were coming back because so many seemed to be leaving.

A couple of those guys I don't even think were entertaining leaving and didn't look like they wanted to be at the pressers lol.

People acting like Penn is some scrub. Yea he won't be a 1st round pick but he is a solid piece

This. Was was very far from the worst part of the defense this year.
He’ll, he was far from the worst LB this year.

Not sure how anyone would consider his return as a negative

Just because a guy has experience and is returning doesn't mean it's always a good thing. What if he's just not a good player at this level? If a 1-11 team has 18 returning starters coming back, pretty good chance that team will still suck if those starters keep playing.

Maybe Penn will improve. But unless there is a change in scheme/philosophy/coaching/talent or some combo of the four, running it back with people who were here last year probably isn't the best thing.

I get the comparison to Daniels, and it's a fair point. But I haven't seen good coaching on the defensive side of the ball in House's two years here, certainly nowhere close to the improvement the offense made this year.

Penn gets more criticism than he deserves on this site.

Improvement would be welcome, but Penn doesn’t have to get better. He played very well this season. These negative Nancy’s are just too benighted to see it.
