I happen to agree. I know recruiting is nationwide these days but to have such fertile instate recruiting and no instate competition for it is huge.

While technically true, I think people overstate the in-state competition aspect. LSU isn't in Texas, but we pull quality prospects from there. LSU is the only major program in LA, but LA recruits are targeted by other elite programs that are within a 6 hour drive from most of the talent hotbeds.

It's a great place to coach for plenty of reasons, but you still have to recruit your arse off.

I would agree if we had an administration that was all in on football. Bama never tells Saban no on anything he wants for the program.

Texas was a decade ago maybe. But now they have A&M, TCU, Houston, and Baylor ahead of them in football for a few years now. In their own state. That competition alone has made the program decline I feel. They may have a financial advantage but that's it.
