They constantly ran sets and drawn up plays. Just because they didn't run them well doesn't mean we didn't run an offense.

I mean, do you honestly believe our coaches just send the players out there with no direction at all?

The lack of movement goes beyond execution, hence you need someone to coach the offense.

Great read on the candidates looking to fill musselman's position

Butch Pierre is a good, defensive minded coach.

Disagree totally, there were some individuals that play good defense from time to time and the team played good defense occasionally but overall the team defense was very weak. Youth played a large part in this

Just curious as to what the team's scoring average was in SEC games. Point being, it just seems like we scored a lot more PPG in non conference ( easier games ) than we did in the league. There were way too many non scoring lapses for 4-5-6 minutes at a time in league games for us to average anywhere near 74.

The last 2 games were the microcosm of the season. When LSU needed a bucket they had nothing to run, no sets, no movement not even a high PnR. It was five guys standing around.
Which lends just more evidence to the case that the guy who was head coach of two NBA teams was just being totally ignored. What a freaking waste!

When you look at that film, there were so many open looks available, including the one we got. Just didn't finish. Great play.

And look how poorly NC State defended it too. All 5 of thier players flew to Mickey the instant he touched the ball..

Hindsight is 20/20, but Mickey should have probably passed it to Jalyn at the top of the key.

That was the big problem with Mickey's inability to pass out of the block. He was fine passing from the shoulder, but from the block he just couldn't get a pass off.

This is not football, hence you have many LSU football fans calling for "X's and O's" guys. Again I will ask what is this in terms of a basketball coach?

You do not need dynamic and complicated offensive sets to be successful in major college basketball. It is neither hard nor complicated to setup triangles with Hornsby, Quarterman, and Simmons. We did have spacing issues at times, but it is also very challenging when you have 2 very good post players to take one away from the basket for spacing reasons, when neither were great from the perimeter.

We will have a better team next year, no doubt about it. Anyone that believes otherwise should never attempt to argue basketball again stay with the football and baseball threads.

In college basketball recruiting is far more important now than ever. I would rather have 3-4 excellent recruiters than teachers in regards to basketball, where in football it would be the other way around. But in either sport at each level you are not going to find assistants in either sport that have neither.

Also would love for Coach Pierre to be back in the P&G

the sad thing is that you know an alarming amount of our fans actually do believe this to be true

Also I love it that a now Hall of Fame coach literally ran 14 sets to end in the game against Wisky, and our wise LSU basketball fans go crazy over our set selection.

did you watch us at all this year? We had very little movement on our half-court offense. Three guys standing on the perimeter and M&M occasionally moving to/from the high post.

The problem wasn't execution, it was coaching.

That is an offense we run exclusively against zone, and it actually is a very simple, yet good way to beat a zone...
