Yeah, since 100% of the funds for the statue would come from tax dollars. Like everything else LSU athletics has built in the last 10-15 years.

The building is named after him, is that not enough? Statue or Building?

Surely you can't be serious, Clark.

While they are at it, put one up for Chris Jackson/Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. SI cover said he was a pistol too.

Well sure let's do, because turning your back during the Star-Spangled Banner hating on your country is just the thing that endears you to the basketball fan in Louisiana and represents your University so well. Come on.

I know people who have worked under this guy as far back as when he was in charge of the DHH. He stands out front when something good is happening and hides in the back when there is trouble. typical politician.

This guy has sold LSU down the river. End of the story. He could not have done more damage if he sang the Tulane fight song every morning. I could not care less what he wants or thinks.

I want to say I remember Shaq saying something to LSU telling them not to build a statue of him until they erected a statue of Pistol but LSU did it anyways.

Is this accurate?

Dietzel too.

Were you around when Dietzel left? It was much like Saban's departure. When Dietzel came back as the coach at South Carolina in 1966 [I think] he was not welcomed with open arms. Why he was welcomed back as the AD is still a mystery to me. IMHO Cholly Mac is more deserving of recognition than Dietzel.

As usual, our usually absent governor is no better than half right since Bob Pettit also deserves his own statue. We have three greats who have played here.

My source dried up, but I see that you still have some quality high grade marijuana.

It's not Jindal's fault, the state funds a bunch of junior colleges like McNeese, Nicholls, Grambling, Southern that need to be shut down!

All I can say is that you are one ignorant individual that does not know jack shite about 4 year collegiate institutions. Those schools are far from what you call junior colleges. Nicholls State has one of if not the best Nursing, Petroleum, Biological and Culinary programs in the country. Do a little more research before you open your junior college pie hole

Jindal should put a statue of himself at every college in the state because he has done so much for high ed and FWIW, why does he not do something about getting the constitution re-written he is the governor after all. Nope we have not heard anything to that effect. Okay, I am done! When does football season start

The arena is named after him as others have said so it's not like he isn't honored. But I'm fine with it as long as outside donors come up with the money.

But I wish Piyush was as concerned about the Art, Political Science, Geography, History, Math, English, Music........... programs as much as he cares about a statue.

I'd love to see statutes of Pettit & Pete next to Shaq's, as all 3 are more than deserving. Pete's would have to have his floppy socks & long hair. I doubt seriously if the governor in absencenti could give any of Pete's stats, let alone know anything bout Petit.
