"Brandon Harris Getting Sneaky Good"

Nice read on Harris's progress as a leader and quarterback.

Good article.

It's tough to pick on Harris at all thus far. If I'm being very critical the areas he needs to stil lget better on, and with time should is:

- Awareness, he's already pretty good with this in general, but that 1 sack Syracuse had where a safety blitzed in the middle...he never saw it the whole time

- Toughness/physicalness...and dont get me wrong here, I'm not saying Harris need to start trying to go Fournette on every carry he has, but he certainly seems to shy away from any contact and go down quite easily...I thin kthis is something he'll get better at once he gets bigger, because he still looks pretty small, put on another 15 pounds of muscle and he's a solid looking QB from a physical standpoint that can take some hits

- Intermediate over the middle throws, he just seems uncomfortable with these, short throws he's got down well, long throws he loves...even sideline intermediate throws he seems on the money; but put him in a situation where he throws over the middle for a 10-15 yard throw and he seems to get happy feet and sail the ball a little...this, combined with our inability to consistently CATCH the ball, is likely why we dont see many slant routes being thrown

All I can really point out. If there's 1 thing Brandon proved me completely wrong on, it's being turnover prone. I thought we would see INTs be up a bit compared to Jennings, but he's protected the ball remarkably well. I cant even remember a throw that should have or could have been intercepted he's thrown.

on short to intermediate throws he needs to shorten his release which is what Whitfield was supposing to working on.

I think he had one dangerous throw against Mississippi State, but thats it. He has done his job of being a weapon when needed and most importantly protecting the football. We have played 3 games, all against Power 5 conference teams and have yet to turn the ball over. Thats remarkable coaching and playcalling from Cam Cameron.

While running the ball, his job is get yards and get down/out of bounds. The coaches have said as much.

He'll never take unnecessary shots unless it's a pivotal point in the game, and im glad about that.

Brandon is 6'1" 206. Another 15 or twenty pounds and he wouldn't be as mobile. The key ingredient to him staying healthy is his head. In other words, by going out of bounds and not running into players unnecessarily, he stays healthy. That's not a lack of physicality, that's just smart quarterback play.

Been impressed by this. Exactly what LSU needed, and he is doing great.

People won't admit it, but Harris surpasses 90% of expectations placed on him 2 months ago.

Harris has impressed me but this teams got to help me out more. Protection and dropped passes have killed him.

Brandon Harris has done exactly what the coaches have asked him to do so far. He's made some great passes, shown good decision making and escapability, and most importantly he has NO TURNOVERS! He's only going to get better with experience too, and when you have Leonard Fournette getting 8 YPC to take some pressure off of him it's scary to think about how good BH can really be..

LSU has a legitimate starting QB for 2015, and no one is calling for the backup. For that, we should all be thankful.

I find it weirdly refreshing that Jamie Keehn has been the weakest link on the team.

I swear I been saying that since Sunday after Auburn that he looks very poised and can lead this team to playoffs. SU game hammered it home thus far. Hope he keeps it up.

The only thing I think he really needs to improve is his pocket awareness. Specifically stepping up into the pocket when there is an outside rush. There were a few times in the Syracuse game where the pocket was surrounding him but there was room to step up into it and if he had the defenders would have flown behind him. I think this will come with time and experience and I'm sure the coaches are pointing this out to him.
