I never had faith he would be a long term solution to begin with. Gimmick pitchers like that are for the southeasterns of the world.

I'm not saying we cant use him if we get depleted in an extra inning game, or our bullpen has been wiped out by game 3 of the weekend. But he's pretty far down on my list.

Above Bouman and Devall though.

I think you bring in one of the solid guys in the 8th, and see if he can pitch 2 , if he has his stuff, that day. Or, pitch another in the ninth if he struggles in the 8th, or situational righty/lefty, and use multiple guys for 1-2 batters, as to not burn them out in the series.

He can't throw strikes when it counts.
Middle innings guy only.

I'd go with Person or Newman.

if Godfrey can get a little better at his control I agree he should close or try it anyway. Cause Godfrey has some nasty pitches when he is on his game. I honestly think his nerves are getting the best him of but he will settle down eventually. He has looked twice as good in the relief role already.

CPM said they were going to do a closer-by-committee. Mentioned Newman, Person and Reynolds by name.

Closer by committee is the smart approach. IMHO
