There should be some assistants in the list.

1. Saban (best coach in CFB history)
2. SOS (although he only has one NC, what he did at Duke, UF and USCe is a testament to his abilities.)
3. Miles (consistent winner, but gets duly criticized for crazy shenanigans in game).
4. Richt (hasn't won it all, but is a consistent winner and solid guy).
5. Malzahn (idiot fanboys hated on this guy for years, but he's a great coach).
6. Sumlin (a good coach, but inconsistent.)
7. Mullen (hard to win at MSU, but for what he has, he's done well).

Why does Sumlin get included in a list of top SEC coaches, what has he done in the SEC? Remember, he had one of cfb's greatest players & still came away with nothing more than a middle of the pack finish?

I don't see how people continue to put Miles over SOS. I'd like to know reasons besides Homerism.

SOS has a longer and better track record at 3 different programs that struggled. He wasn't gifted anything at Duke, UF or USCe. And he turned all 3 into winners during his time.

I put him at 6 of 14. That is exactly middle of the pack.

He's young, has gone 20-6 in his in his 2 seasons at TAMU (both in the SEC) and won 10+ games twice at UH in 4 years.

Where should he be? Who are you going to put over him?

Y'all are really selling Malzahn short. I know it's a small sample size, but he's been incredibly impressive.

What's your list?

You can't put Malzahn over Saban, SOS, Miles. Maybe Richt, but like you said, sample size.

There are 14 CFB head coaches in the SEC. Malzahn at 5 right now seems legit.

Well said. Malzahn definitely has the most upward potential in this group though. This list could look significantly different in the very near future.
