It didn't happen in football, but what Stan Wright did at the 1972 Summer Olympics was considered a pretty significant mistake at the time.............But this was before the 24/7 news cycle, so Skip Bayless wasn't ranting about it the next day.

Obit of Olympic track coach Stan Wright

But he still made the Hall of Fame despite his infamy

Saban not insuring Josh Booty wouldn't make-up his own play in 2000 against UAB to lose to the Blazers.

we could have still kicked a fg to win.

If the ball is dropped th clock runs out. When it stopped, 1 second was left with the catch.

There are plenty of bone-headed plays in sports. Even LSU owns a handful. Did anyone watch LSU toss 6 interceptions to Auburn? Saban's blown coverages against Arkansas, Iowa, Arkansas (remember, he was the DB coach). Saban's blow coin toss?

NO DOUBT, THIS OLE MISS GAME changed the way all of us will think of Miles from now on.

LSU players lost the coin toss. The other team differed to the 2nd half. LSU players chose to kickoff, thinking that they would get to receive in the 2nd, but the other team had differed, so they got to receive both kickoffs. It was classic. That was a Saban coached team. Don't recall the game. Any help there?

A friend called it the LSU IQ bowl. How many LSU players does it take to mess up a coin toss? Only four captains, but a really good coach.

Auburn 94

Booty 2000

Booty against Bama in 1999. Trying to run it in himself. The big hero.

It was Saban, because I watched it in the house I moved into the same year Saban was hired. But since I don't know the game, I wont suggest you quote me until we get all the facts. I also seem to recall that LSU won, which took much of the sting out of it.

For some reason I want to say it was Marcus Spears that made that infamous coin toss call...

1994 Auburn game is right up there, and 1987 Ohio State isn't far behind, but yes, this is one of the biggest coaching blunders ever to have occurred at LSU.

And it is without a doubt the worst coaching blunder that has occurred in college football this year, and maybe for the last 5 years or so.

I think the coin toss was under Saban, but that wasn't his fault. Bradie James, I believe, screwed it up. We were taught in middle school football to receive if the other team deferred.
